Going in to KC is a huge opportunity for Herbert to show who he is. He is coming off an uncharacteristically bad game, the critics are questioning him asking if he is over rated, his team needs a huge performance to have a chance against the team to beat in the division. These are the games that define elite QBs. These are the games why you are paid 262 million.

We need vintage Herbert to have a chance in this game. Time for a statement Justin! You are going against Mahomes. Lets see some fire. LFG!

He didn't have a good game against Dallas - no question

But the defense is garbage - that has been consistent theme in not only the STaley era but Herberts now 56 or so starts.
Also, nominal running game - worse when Ek was out
The OL got pushed around this past Monday
The defense on 3rd down and long and in the 4th quarter -- worst in the league
Where is the speed anywhere on the field? Anywhere? Bueller Bueller
Even JK Scott. The Dallas punter had a punt of 60 yards. Chargers I think didn't move the chains and had to punt, JK Scott, 40 yards, fair catch. Chargers lost 20 yards on those possessions

Its bigger than Justin Herbert -= yes, he can play better but again, he is not the problem. The problem is on the sidelines and the front office

Totally get it and agree. Mahomes is 5-1 and hasn't played his best because he has a defense and a good coach. But no one in the football world cares about excuses. Despite the challenges Herbert has had 3 chances against the 3 best teams the Chargers have played for game winning drives and he is 0-3. He doesn't throw a lot of interceptions overall but he does in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.

He has to step up and win in the big moments if he wants to be a great, elite QB. That's just the way it is. I love Herbert and have defended him staunchly for 4 years but I am taking off my homer glasses long enough to start to see some of the criticism isnt out of line. Especially now that he is being paid 262 million. He is not being paid that to be pretty good and almost win every time he plays a real contender.

One other thing I cannot disagree with is that Herbert has leveled off in his development from where I thought he would be in year 4 after his early brilliance. I thought going into year 4, healthy, with new OC, Herbert would take the next level and be squarely in the MVP conversation. Now its only 5 games and the season has not been written but it is just not feeling like that. He has to step it up. The whole team does.

I just wish they would create plays for QJ. Heck, this last game, an end around the Everett. Why not do an end around to QJ - just to get him the ball. I think they did a WR screen to Allen. Sorry, not his strength at this point with the ball.

WHO has called him a bust? Huge stretch there

Even his biggest critics in the NFL media world acknowledge he is a very talented QB. He has been called over rated and not yet elite but no one is calling Herbert a bust.
