But one of the real problems that is not talked about is the lack of turnovers from the defense. They were terrible last year at taking away the ball.

What people don't seem to understand is that Rivers was asked to carry the Colts on his back last Sunday and win that game. He had to play pretty much a perfect game.
Its like so many Charger seasons last decade.
He's played zero games with his receivers before last Sunday
Taylor is just asked not to lose the game.
It does seem that Rivers velocity was off even from last year.

Tyrod has 20Int for his career in 1,392 attempts.
Rivers had 20Int last year in 591 attempts.
Lynn decision about who will QB the 2020 Charger season is all about Tyrod 20Int in a career vs Rivers 20int in a season.
Anthony is all about protecting rock.
I think it is a great foundational philosophy to build the team around. When the team is lead by Tyrod, they won't be anything special but they won't turn it over much and that will put them in a positions to have a chance to win many of the games. And next season when Herbert is ready to play, the offense gets a player with much better arm talent to move the rock and score but still should be a low turnover team because Lynn demands it. He is fine punting and relying on the defense and special teams in games where offense is not clicking. He does Not care if score is low, he just wants the Win.
The most efficient redzone team last year was Titans. Not a high flying offense but a team that committed to run the ball. And Vrabel said himself turnover differential is undefeated. Titans - 0, Broncos - 1. Tenn wins. 16-14.
Gordon was the one who fumbled.
If Chargers has Rivers 2Int. and Gordon 1 fumble yesterday............they lose. Bengals would get 3 more possessions and short fields. You just cannot do that and win games.Who has it better than us?

Just throw those 2 picks in spots it goes incomplete if WR cannot catch it. Simple protect the rock there.
Nothing perfect needed.

Now that he has one of the best O-lines in the NFL in front of him and he is still throwing game losing interceptions, the narrative has switched again.
If everything needs to be perfect in order for Rivers to succeed, then is he really that great of a QB to begin with?
I'll say it again, great QB's make everyone around them better. It shouldn't have to be the opposite because then you'd only need Trent Dilfer.

The sooner we move on to our future, the better. Tyrod is a non-talented retread.

Lynn has made his choice and I fully expect it will cost him his job. Rivers interceptions have been discussed ad nauseam but what is overlooked over and over again is the 30 great passes in the game vs the head scratching 1 or 2 he makes that have been getting picked. Taylor won't even try half of the passes Rivers would. So yep, he won't turn it over and we won't be competitive against a lot of teams.

idk what the definition is but the only game that sticks out as "not being in position to win" was the Vikings game last year.
So we'll see how many of those we have this year
I think Critty is spot on as in the plan involves building a foundation with Tyrod of minimal turn overs, ground game and defense.
nothing sexy.
Then transitioning it to Herbert with superior physical talents that can be asked to occassionally step outside the conservative offense to make a play.
the mental make-up Herbert showed in Oregon matches this plan too.
