That’s a good point, but his desire to stay in LA combined with the chargers matching what seattle gave him, IDK, that might’ve swayed him to stick around knowing that he was still going to get a crap ton of playing time spelling mack and bosa, much like he did when joey and melvin were the leading guys…didn’t the rams have that same situation with Leonard when they signed von miller? there is the a strong possibility that staley would’ve had joey inside with both mack and nwosu outside on passing downs too…but did the chargers even make him an offer or perhaps tell him they’d be willing to match Seattle's offer? That’s the big question, because they obviously told him that they’d be looking for more edge help…

He apparently likes and does better in the style of defense that Seattle allows him to play.

i thought he had a very good year in Staley’s system, in many ways he out played joey, he didn’t have as many sacks or pressures but he had a better grasp of his role in the defense than joey, understanding lane discipline and containing running QBs, stopping his rush to bat down passes and cut off screens etc…he had a fantastic year last year in ways that didn’t show up on the stat sheet…
