Murray might be a physical "gym rat", but he's not a MENTAL gym rat.

How is it even possible for someone to think this doesn't forecast serious limitations on his future football success?

Most players have to learn to "embrace the grind" of all the working out and feeling sore. But the good quarterbacks embrace the mental grind, and love being on top of everything.

I think he is really going to be tested now that the whole "not wanting to study thing" is out in the open.

I have a feeling most starting QB are doing a lot more than 4 hours per week. That and I think most NFL QB are probably pretty focused guys, so that they can get a lot done in 4 or however many hours..

And I'm sure Murray was doing film study in the quarterbacks room, with his position coach, and fellow QBs.

The issue was when it came to the unsupervised four hour block that Murray was responsible for completing on his own time, each and every week. It had to be REALLY obvious from his lack of prepared-ness that he'd been blowing it off. This explains everything, regarding offseason rumors.

Some people with enormous physical talent just DON'T have a drive, or work ethic, that would help them maximize their ability.

Murray is clearly one. Johnny Manziel was another, although he was also constantly abusing substances. Ryan Leaf qualifies as a guy with through-the-roof talent, and inadequate work ethic, but mental health components, as well.

Hard to believe a $230 mil fine for failure to study film. There may be potential fines in place, but not the total contract amount. Remember, $104 mil of his deal is guaranteed. Maybe THAT'S why Murray is slacking it...
