Are our assistant coaches any good? Dunno, not enough info. Aren’t HC’s brought in with their own accepted package of assistants? It’s probably a contract standard now.

you need a hot defensive line. We have that. We can get to the Quarterback.

We need a Quarterback who can make throws. Third down throws. We have that.

you need a receiver who’s dependable. We have that Kennan Allen.

You need a dependable left tackle. Rashawn Slater we have that.

and in the playoffs running is different. Running back is different. We have the guy who can get hot. And run the fuck outa the ball. Joshua Kelly.

      Who knows at Cornerback.

Fuck all the outside noise go win.

and we got Bosa coming back.

This game this weekend is going to tell me a lot about this team. It’s a playoff atmosphere. If they run the table. If they blow these guys out. That’s gonna tell me a lot.

and use a little Darius Davis at running back.
Maybe a jet sweep or two but actual RB? Doubt that will ever happen....and shouldn't.

Should Staley get fired soon, give our special teams coordinator a try at the head coaching job. He’s our most successful “coordinator” of the bunch, He warrants some kudos. Retain him next season. The Chargers currently have one of the the best ST’s in the NFL. Hell, make him a wild card shot outta nowhere interim HC.

If Special Teams plays a determining role in this game, why not?

At this point, Spanos seems to be content to let Staley finish the year before firing him. Since we aren't mathematically eliminated and the reports that Moore is not under consideration to be our next HC, I guess they don't see a need to do it mid-season and we'll limp through the rest of the season with him.

Detroit having their best season start since 1962. No Matt Stafford, although Matt halted the Chargers playoff march about 10 winters ago. Their HC Dan Campbell would probably have us knocking down the door. I’m happy for Lions fans. They’re no longer the team that loses every Thanksgiving day game since time began. It’s almost heartening.

BTW, there were only two teams that reluctantly signed on for the first Thanksgiving day games. Two loser teams at the time who thought…what the hey. Dallas and Detroit. Now, every team would give their right arm, hehe.

Campbell came in - said some whacky stuff. But, things are working in Detroit with the new GM Brad Holmes
Some thought they drafted Gibbs and the Iowa LB too high - but sometimes - you just have to draft football players who have production on tape against stellar competition

Correct. If he makes someone interim HC then it'll have to come with a pay increase. Dean isn't doing that. We've got what we have. The silver spoon cares about making money, not building a winner. The really sad part is it's a league of guaranteed profit. That's good enough for him. Until new minds buy him out, we will always be just in the cusp of relevant. Nothing more.

Take note…Spanos’ privately hired scout team!

The people who would love to see DD line up in the backfield aren't suggesting we run him between the tackles.
But passes in the flat...? Drag routes...? Pitches to the outside when LB's and safeties aren't playing true...?
                    Oh, hell yes!

Sometimes, it's other WR's in motion. If you also have DD out wide (in typical motion)... then you can't put him in motion at the same time. IMO, you always want to create space at the LOS for DD. Allows him release unharrassed. Lining him up in the backfield does that.

Like Caslon I am happy for long-suffering Detroit fans. Also proves that if you have the right HC and GM you can turn things around and quickly. They're a fun team now with some young exciting weapons. Gotta get that defense fixed tho. I have them just below SF, Philly and Dallas in the NFC.
