Gene Klein hated winning as it raised his personnel costs. He preferred horses and sold to a no-cal guy who wanted to make the team like the 'duhs.

He asked for a raise and GK didn't like players that wanted a raise - think JJ, Big Hands, Loooooi, etc.

The guys that think Spanos is bad must have forgotten GK.

For all the perceived Spani faults spending money on player contracts hasn’t been an issue.

These utes who are learning about GK, think it began with GK.

Maybe they need to hear the story about Sid Gillman and Jack Kemp.

Due to a front office snafu by HC/GM Sid Gillman, Jack Kemp became a FA. Then the QB only led the Buffalo Bills to an AFL Championship over the Chargers.
This AFLCG was my initiation into Charger dna.
          Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

It was with the patriarch, big Al. Lachey was traded when he sat out.

Bobby Beathard went to the San Diego Union once & complained about what a tightwad the old man was.
Part of the reason Beathard traded first round picks for 2nd rounders was because he couldn't fit signing 1rst rounders into the team budget.

60's snafus, then the reign of the two notorious tight wads for 30 +years, & then the goofy progeny with passive/aggressive tendencies.

And people wonder why this club has never won a Super Bowl.

Lachey particularly hacks me off. For once, we drafted a legitimate anchor OLT (2nd Team All Pro in his young career.)
Then we couldn't keep him happy.
James FitzPatrick, loved to smoke the marijuana leaf, and the buds too.
                Marcus McNeill, with his neck.
                On and on.

FatsPatrick was a doper? That’s new info.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

And they started out with the first two decades of pro bowl play from the LT position - MIx/Washington, and then Fatspatrick.
                        Go figure!
Fatpatrick was to be the future at the position.
Traded Lachey for some former first round LT bust from Missouri (John feet of Clay), who ate his way out of Al Davis's good graces.

You knew Gaither would find his way to this team sooner or later.
