Dude I’m just giving props to the guys that wanted Kincaid. They were right. I knew he was good. But I didn’t know he was that good. He’s a San Diego guy.

When I mention Kelce he’s the only one that comes to mind that can do that route running like a receiver. Like he knows where to be when the football is thrown.

What is confusing to me is how ALL the money cant be transferred on trade...I think it either should, or should at least be negotiable...but my impression is there is some money that has to be paid by original team, no matter if the second team would have been willing to pick up the tab. At least, thats how I assume it is.

If anybody has a clear understanding of trades and salary liability, would love to hear from you...
Basically, Bolt4Knob and I were arguing over technicalities. You are right, the guaranteed money (signing bonus) is spread out over the years... if the player is traded/cut it accelerates the payout.

Take the JCJ signing... he signed for 5 years and 25 million signing bonus... ($5 million per year). So, when we traded him, the last 4 years accelerated (that's why he's $20 million dead cap for next year). I can't find the specifics for the original contract, but assume that had we cut him at season's end... he would have only counted as $15 million against the dead cap (which is why I stated that he hurt us against next year's cap). The problem is that the Patriots were only willing to take $1.5 million of this year's salary on to facilitate the trade. Since some of that salary was already paid (via signing bonus of $5 million for 2023 season)... they had to re-figure the $5 million as a "bonus pay-out" and shift the "bonus payout" to 2024.

In the end, we saved $1.5 million against this year's cap (even though we had to bring in another salary to fill the roster spot... which is why I called it peanuts). And the peanuts are rolled over to 2024's salary cap space... saving us peanuts in 2024. However, the peanuts are quickly gobbled up by the "bonus payout" that is also applied to the 2024 cap... which is why I said it cost us 2024 cap space.

I could be wrong on this... but this is my understanding. In the end, it earned us a swap of 6th/7th round picks... and an acceleration of the $5 million signing bonus (bonus pay out). I don't have Ed McGuire's phone number... sorry.

The same shenaningans would have occur if we decided to trade KA, Bosa, and Mack. We'd have find someone willing to take on the full salaries (highly unlikely) and then accelerate those signing bonuses and eat them in 2024. It makes no sense to get rid of players mid-season (bonus-wise) when you can keep them for the season and trade/cut them for the same price (minus the peanuts the trade partner will take on).

You might get a little trade capital (very little IMO)... but then you have to fill the roster spots with slop (salaried slop). KA, Bosa, and Mack are all under contract... so you could still trade them at season's end. KA and Mack are older (and expensive for next year)... and Bosa is always hurt. How much is a team going to pay (draft pick wise) for that kind of risk...? Probably not much... if the JCJ trade is any indicator.

          Division game Den vs. KC

Nick Bolton needs surgery on the wrist he injured last week against the Chargers and is expected to miss approximately two months.

Queue up Drue Tranquill for more snaps in his absence.

We need to get that dynamic TE for Herbie...
I wanted Flowers, I liked Kincaid too. I thought Meyers (Mayers?) was going to be better than he has shown so far. Kincaid hasn’t done much except the last game and he still has zero TDs. Too soon to crown him but I like his potential too.

Krasovic is confused about where Kincaid was drafted, but I didn't know his first college was USD. When I think of USC I think of players like Michael Bandy.

The Chargers — and a few other NFL teams — passed on drafting a former University of San Diego star. Dalton Kincaid, who was taken 24th overall by the Bills, looks like he’s going…

Kincaid is starting for the Bills. He has 30 receptions. Had 8 the week before so he is heating up....he had a TD in his last game, which was Thursday night on 5 receptions.

I mentioned that leading up to the draft. He went to high school in Las Vegas before going to USD.
And No, he is correct,... he was drafted after we picked QJ. He was on the board.

As a former TE I can honestly say without hyperbole and with 100% confidence, we are the greatest thing that has ever happened to the game of football...

This former WR isn't on board with this.

Weren't the Bolts about to draft Kincaid, then were shocked that QJ was still on the board?

IDK, regardless I'd have drafted Kincaid.
Flowers also went right after our pick.
