How many Chargers on offense are more valuable to the team than Ekeler?
If he blows out a knee in the first game, what are the Chargers chances?
They aren't just going to ride with one of their rookie free agents and all will be well.

Running backs are undervalued because of durability: most not holding up through a 2nd contract.
Dallas/the Rams/Titans have all been recently screwed by offering big 2nd contracts to rbs.

Maybe the solution is 1 - 2 year deals.

I think Ekeler is very important to the Chargers' chances of going deep into the playoffs. His TD production can't be forgotten.

Having said that, there are other positions critical to their success. QB is the most important position... therefore, I think the OT positions are more important than RB.
I think we all saw what happened to the offense when Allen and Williams went down... so I'll add them to the list.
Running the ball (no matter how good your RB) depends on your cohesion along the OL... center being the captain... so I'll add Linsley.

We saw how good the defense was with Mack and Bosa in Weeks 1 and 2... so add those two to the list.
Maybe even the 3 CB's (considering that it's a passing league)...
I'm not a huge believer that you need elite safeties. But Derwin does a lot more than just play safety... so I'll add him.

I'm also one of the few fans that believes Joshua Kelley is ready to take on a bigger role.
I liked Spiller in college... he could be ready to take on the RB2 position...
When you consider the possible replacement value @RB compared to other positions... FS, LB and IDL... the loss of Kendricks, SJD, and Austin Johnson worries me, too.

Still hoping for the Coryells &/or the Seaus to come out. Seems like daily teams are coming out with their throwback/alternates and nothing from us. Hell even Cleveland and Indy have 2nd helmets.

There was a camp of media people and fans who predicted that the Bolts would take a wideout with the 21st overall pick, and many of them thought Addison Jordan would be *that* guy. As it was, the Vikings selected Jordan two picks after the Chargers had taken Quentin Johnston.

I had seen indicators that Jordan was a putz, but NOTHING I saw suggested he was the kind of guy to be so thoughtless and reckless as to get clocked going 140 in a 55 zone.

Words pretty much fail me in expressing how grateful I am that Addison Jordan is some OTHER team's problem. Yikes!

I posted this earlier. Addison was picked two picks after the Chargers drafted QJ. I suppose it's possible that if QJ had not been there that Telesco would've drafted Addison. But thankfully it's not something we have to think about. QJ is well grounded and mature, close to his family. We got the right guy, hopefully.
