    Levi's Stadium Turf Sucks!

Why would we play on this crap when the 49ers won't even practice on it?

NBC Sports Bay Area & California | Video, News, Schedules, Scores and more

McCoy needs to do what the Chargers did a couple decades ago at the Houston Astrodome before a preseason game: REFUSE to play on that crappy field. We don't need the injuries!

Didn't the same thing happen in Philly years back? The turf was so bad that a team refused to play on it. Something about the seams coming apart?

This is real grass; guess it just hasn't rooted yet. Which doesn't make it OK.

They laid the sod in April or early May....doesn't take that long to root. They should have already re-laid the stuff......with a proper strain of grass. Instead they use some bermuda/ryegrass mixture like a golf course instead of other grasses that have proven to hold up to the rigors of NFL and other sports. maybe it works in the end, but right now it is a freaking disaster. if the turf starts giving out badly, especially after the three events there between now and then, i would take my team off the field.

49ers say Levi's Stadium sod will be ready Sunday

The 49ers promised the turf at Levi’s Stadium, which was in bad enough shape Wednesday to force the team to move its practice, will not prevent the team from playing host to Sunday’s exhibition game.

The 49ers issued the following statement on Wednesday evening:

“The 49ers organization would like to apologize to any fans who were inconvenienced by today’s practice ending early. We have determined the appropriate measures necessary to have the field ready for Sunday and look forward to hosting the San Diego Chargers.”
Coach Jim Harbaugh led his team off the field due to problems with the footing. Harbaugh made the decision after wide receiver Stevie Johnson fell hard while running a route pass pattern less than an hour into the scheduled 2-hour, 15-minute practice.

Harbaugh jogged off the field and the team followed him without acknowledging those in attendance. The 49ers distributed 10,000 tickets to fans to attend the third and final open practice of training camp.

The Levi’s Stadium sod, known as Bandera Bermuda, was selected for its ability to hold up under frequent usage.

But after just one small concert event, a soccer match and an NFL game, the turf was considered unsafe for the 49ers on Wednesday to conduct a practice.

The sod was installed in mid-April.

It's pretty sad when your own home field isn't rooting for you.

It's weird, all of the players seem to really like the new stadium (turf aside) but it just seems so bland aesthetically. My first thought was 1.2 billion for that?

Kinda agree when you see Jerry World by comparison.

Our new stadium better be more like that. Throw in some Jacksonville with the poolside cabanas mixed in.

San Diego deserves a massive field long LCD screen for putting up with Qualcomm for decades.

I read a review from a local reporter, he didn't hate it but he was underwhelmed

Maybe if they charged $45 for a burger, fries and coke they could afford quality sod
Forget it Donny you're out of your element

Scifres would just hit it with his punts and that would affect his gross and net.
