I'd like to see him trade another future 7th Rounder for another young quality backup.

(1) a GM who loves second round picks so much he always trades away his fourth round picks for them, or

One got us to the River Jordan. Maybe the other can get us to the Promised Land.

But how many teams are going to take a player that we have hung on to for several years and then try to fix them? By the time we give up, most teams are just ready to give up on players? Plus it strikes me there were a number of guys who kicked around for a few years, although the only ones I can think or right now are UDFA.
Looking at guys like Norv, he failed to ever develop good players, despite working with several different GM/personnel departments. Meanwhile, Marty was with several different teams, and every stop he had success developing players. The best example was when Marty was in Washington, LaVarr Arrington, former 1st or 2nd pick in the draft played like a true all pro, and since no other coach ever got anything out of the guy, I kinda think that Marty had a lot to do with it.

The thing I like about TT is he seems to have brought the team into the 21st Century. MM is no small part of that too. Shareece Wright was on NFL A.M. last week and when asked about MM's approach he said one of the main things McCoy stresses is to get to know your teammates on a personal level, get to know their families etc. From that comes a bonding and a desire to have each others' backs at all times. Wright also said how much it means to him to have Weddle in the middle. He said it makes it a lot easier to do his job.
Time will tell, but at this point I like what the Spanos' have done and I really believe TT and MM have the team headed in the right direction.

To put it into a work perspective I know the best teams I've been on were close....we did things offsite together and I knew them and met their families. Over time teams change and people do move on to bigger/better things but you don't get faced with the same "what are we going to do without this guy" in my opinion because you have your core friendship at the office to dilute that. No doubt in my mind investing in relationships creates a team that WANTS be be together and THAT itself stops a lot of the feelings of discontent and less people want to leave and will even take less cash to stay in the positive team environment.
I believe we are on the upswing from the AJ days. I dont think Norv was a "bad" manager but I dont see him as a leader type either....McCoy just is built to lead....he gets it. Its 90% attitude and believe in it that makes teams achieve more than the collective was believed to achieve. TT embodies that spirit too. I think they are a great pair to take this team out of the organized chaos that it was into a real relationship based organization. People will come and go but as you see in teams that last if you create the core belief system, the culture....we can do a whole lot more.
I believe we have every capability to go all the way. A lot of factors come into play but we've seen teams like the Giants twice, the Ravens and numerous others that didnt play a perfect season or had some weaknesses put it together. With our offense and the positive changes in our defense and how our D finished off last year I think TT and Mccoy could even do it this year. It is feasible.
Can't wait till we get reports in and games started....so close to season start!
