I agree, you have to try Rockford Files if you are too young to have seen it. Great theme song, Rockford drove a cool firebird, he was an every day hero with plenty of faults, great recurring character actors like his dad Rocky and Angel and occasionally guys like Ike Turner would show up. Rockford lived in a trailer and each show started with something different and funny on his answering machine (which was not as common place an appliance then as it is now, or was until voicemail)! But the shows had good writers.

Now of course, I was a youngster when all this was cool and please remember I was wearing bell bottom cords, a muscle shirt and my shell necklace while I watched the show.

Seemed like a good man, married to the same woman from 1956 til his passing, life long Democrat who marched in 63 with MLK, Korean War Vet w/ TWO Purple Hearts

He may not have been a great actor but I liked everything I saw him in. He was excellent in Victor/Victoria. I saw the great escape when I was nine years old and towards the end when him and Donald Pleasance try to escape in the plane and just miss making it ... Well I was heart broken
