Chargers vs. Seahawks PS game #3 Analysis

First of all, our D got torched by the Seattle O. Wilson runs for big yards, our D-line got blown back repeatedly, and as Dmac pointed out on game thread, we got burned repeatedly by swing passes like this one to Penny. Jatavis is playing way too deep. If he's supposed to set the edge, he sure didn't on this play:

Later on, Wilson connected with Lockett deep. Rayshawn was slow getting over--there was no other deep receiver, and as high safety, he should have seen it coming. King tries to catch up, but it's too late. Rayshawn is improving, but still not all the way there yet.

Another swing pass to Penny. This time Jatavis had him in his sights, but launches and whiffs. Looks like Addae. Awful.

This play really shows multiple O-line issues. 1. Scott gets beat. 2. Lamp gets beat. 3. Feeney gets beat. Good thing he has JJ in to block and help him out. 4. Scho stands around with nobody to block. Feeney could have used some help, because Green and Tevi double team one guy. Result: Taylor is sacked. So, we have SEVEN blockers vs. only FOUR rushers, and we STILL can't get the job done? Wow, just...wow...

I remember watching Scho with "no one to block" too many times to count in the NE game. He should just immediately go stand next to Phil - thats where his blocking assignments will be. Lamp has not yet shown what we all hoped for. He seems to have skills and athleticism, he is not putting it together. Feeney gets beat regularly. Scott sucks imo.

Play Pipkins more in Gm4. He's starting to improve.

If we crap out on a deep playoff run this season I'm all for a new G.M. already.

And that new GM had better draft O-line TWICE in top 3 picks...

It was either Spiro or Fouts who also saw some improvement in Pip...

On the bright side, Pope really showed great vision on this play. It was designed for him to go up the gut (1), but he sees there's nothing there, and instead goes outside (2) for a nice gainer. Had this been MG3, or even Ekkie, for that matter, either one would have continued up the gut for nada...

                        The 4 starting DLiners were...

                        P. Afriyie (Who is he?)
                        D. Square (Still in this lineup?)
                        I. Rochell (Average backup)
                        J. Jones (Backup)

                        It explains something.
On the OL, it's another story...
