A minor injury to Vincent Brown opened the door Friday for Dontrelle Inman to work with the second-team offense.
The former CFL wide receiver impressed.
Inman continued a productive start to Chargers training camp, his second day highlighted by a catch over the middle despite tight coverage from cornerback Jason Verrett. Brown suffered a calf strain during warmups. His absence is not expected to be extensive.
Opportunity comes and goes in the NFL.
Since the Chargers began voluntary workouts in April, coach Mike McCoy has noticed Inman making the most of his.
"He's done a nice job the past couple of days," McCoy said. "He had a nice offseason also. Every time you looked outside during the week, when nobody was around, Dontrelle was always out doing something. You'd walk down where the players are, and he'd be out there with his iPad, watching film. Or you look outside, late in the afternoon, he had come back, and he'd be running up on the hill or doing something with the Jugs (machine). ...
"All his hard work is paying off at this point of time."Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
