IMO, Joiner was more like a better Benjamin...

Joiner was a third down converter.

Joiner was not a burner like Benjamin but he caught everything thrown his way.

I am older than dirt, so old enough to remember.

Joiner was tough and hyper competitive...one of my favorite Chargers ever.
Maybe we do play modern football.

Then you remember wu-dai the Denver game on Monday football when the Chargers clinched the division. Joiner was beaten up in that game, but kept on going.
He would study which shoulder safeties would use to hit & run patterns over the middle directed towards the opposite shoulder.

If I remember that was the game that Gene Klein walked Charlie off the field with his arm around him. Much respect for #18.

We could have won a SB back then if we had an owner that wasn't so darn tight with the bucks.
