Well, well, well, so the team that always kills itself with dumb mistakes surrendered a punt return touchdown, muffed a punt, dropped countless passes and missed a field goal? You don't say! The Chargers might as well change their team name to the Murphy's Laws because whatever can go wrong will go wrong with them.

Saddest part of the Chargers' loss to the Chiefs was notJoey Bosa's absence(or the absence of the defense as a whole), and it was not starting a big, fat 0-1 in the AFC West. Nope, it was all the red jerseys in the Bolts' "home" crowd. I noticed the dispiriting sea of cherry while watching the replay of Tyrell Williamsfourth-quarter touchdown grab.

The defense was awful, but at least the kicking game made up for it by botching a kick late in the fourth quarter.

    Throwback Tuesday:
The Bolts shank early season field goals.Shocking.
Well, it's clear Bosa will be missed as long as that foot injury lingers. Meanwhile, the offense put up gobs of yards and points, so that won't be the problem this year. Still, starting the season with a divisional home loss is hardly the ideal way to embark on the road to Super Bowl LIII.

They didn't look good in losing to the Chiefs at home. Will they have another slow start for a team some thought could be a Super Bowl contender?

      11. Los Angeles Chargers 0-1 (last week: 6)Matt Vererame - Fansided.com

      14. (LW 9)

The Chargers constantly find ways to lose games. This week, it was horrid special teams and a ton of drops.

      11 (LW 9):
Whether it was (another) key field-goal miss or giving up 91-yard punt return, Bolts' special teams remain especially abysmal.

      13 (LW 10)

Faces in the crowd that flashed:

Chargers first-round pick Derwin James recorded a sack and pass breakup against the Chiefs in his first career game. He was one of five rookies to record at least one sack in Week 1. Los Angeles is putting trust in its new DB early: No Charger played more defensive snaps than James.

Don't let the score fool you. This game was yet another example of the past few years of Chargers football. Zero ability to make appropriate gameplans and gametime adjustments until its too late, zero capability to play special teams, and far too many mistakes offensively (lookin' at you, Travis and Tyrell). The worst part is that this game was very winnable, and the Chargers still played like barf for three quarters. This narrative needs to change.

Stop us if you've heard this one.

The Los Angeles Chargers enter the season with hype and promise. This is the year the Bolts are finally going to put it all together and make a deep playoff run. Then the injuries start to mount. Or the team starts the year out flat. Or both. And by November, we're all left wondering how we could fall for it again.

After watching the Bolts lose to Kansas City in Week 1, Davenport's getting a head start on the wondering.

Luckily for the Chargers, Week 2 against the woeful Bills brings a chance to get right.
