I do wonder if the the offset clause was included or not. Since McCaffrey didn't have it, I would think that Williams didn't have it.

Williams financial situation prior to the draft was the opposite of Bosa. Bosa comes from wealth while Mike could have been ready to take whatever they offered him structure wise. From what ive read things were sort of rough in his small town of 150 or so. Good for him. I hope he and his family can have some fun. They deserve it.

Bottomline though that Bosa situation cursed them bad last year. Complete PR nightmare. They really couldn't survive something like that again in a new city.

Yeah, he couldn't afford to wait it out, and I think it dumb to come into an organized team activity not under contract, mostly because of the potential of injury (although teams haven't yet reneged on payments to a player who does get hurt in Minicamp.) However my belief is if someone drafted after you gets something, that should apply to players drafted before. The offset is still a stupid thing to mess with anyway, as if someone sucks bad enough to get waived, its really the problem of the drafting team for sucking at the pick.
