For me it would be the same under usage of Mathews. don't think he was injured, and he didn't fumble either so what gives (or not gives)? The running game was supposed to take the pressure off Rivers but then the run was inconveniently abandoned. remember when LT used to get the rock over and over over and then he'd break of longer runs late in games becuase the oppossing D was tired?

Danny Woodhead. like Berman mentioned, he was brought in because we missed a Sproles type of player. turns out we'd underutilize him even worse than when we had Sproles.

also lack of running plays in the redzone (and the abscence of both Woodhead and Mathews down there). I just only remember seeing a lot of multiple wr sets....


as far as D, weaker rotation, and the lack of pass rushing threat, that wasn't that unexpected.

Also, ST is not quite up to par.


On a POSITIVE note (well, it could also be negative), it's only game one in september.

too much royal, not enough green. too much brown not enough mathews. I dont understand why we didnt run AT watt, behind fluker. we just ran away from him which actually worked to his advantage because he was able to use his athleticism to beat blocks. it wouldnt be so easy if they ran it right at him.

Didn't like the 2nd half play-calling.

Rivers continued penchant for brain farts.

Defensive depth problems. So much blitzing really tuckered the front 7 out by mid-3rd. That helped with the collapse.

Secondary looks pretty weak.

On the positive side, OL did a respectable job of protecting PR. And the pass rush was there for much of the game. Didn't close the deal enough, but there was pressure. Need to find a better way to balance that and coverage so the depth issue isn't exposed so much.

Well I went to the game and the girl I was with (dating, but not my girlfriend) got arrested when we were up 28-7. I left the game and by the time I got off the trolley it was 28-28. Luckily, I got home just in time to see the Texans game winning Field Goal.

Right now I hate this defense and Pagano. I think the offense overachieved based on expectations. It's our defense that is suppose to be our strength on this team this season, not the O, which needs another offseason. A gun shy QB, a shaky oline and a totally new offense and they gave you a 3 TD lead against a playoff team. The strength of your team should be able to hold the line for you. Those 3rd down conversions are an embarrassment. Pagano fixes that or I fire him by week 4 at the latest. No excuse.

With defense I guess our offense has to put points every possession to have a chance to win.

hehe... I'm still sitting here, trying to imagine me taking some chick to a Chargers' game, and her cheesing off some hoard of dopey Texans' fans enough to win a trip to the Q's penalty box.....
