If you leave a game up to a kicker then you get what you get, because there was a hundred other different plays that you could have made that wouldn't have left it up to that.
The Chargers have lived and died by The Foot. SO many games the Bolts have lost on late FGs. If you can die by the foot? it's okay to live by the foot, too.

Agree...Dicker is normally very dependable...he's kicking above 90% on figgies, but has missed THREE PAT's, which is a bit surprising...imagine if Dobbins sits down at the 5 yl, Dicker tries for a FG, same distance as a PAT basically, but misses, we go into overtime and lose? No bueno...take the TD...

            As long as we're imaging...

Imagine Dobbins scores the TD with time left on the clock, and the opponent scores when they get the ball back. The game goes to OT, and the Bolts lose. Don't try to tell me that's a "bueno". It's not. FGs and PATs aren't guarantees, and neither is keeping the lead when you give the ball back to your opponent with time on the clock.

The reason this debate is going on here is precisely beCAUSE there are "no guarantees", no matter which option you choose.

If my defense is utterly gassed, I don't want to put them out on the field again in regulation (after Dobbins' score), much less in Overtime. Under those circumstances, having Dicker attempt a FG as time expires is the most logical choice.

Again, it depends on circumstances. There are no "one size fits all" solutions.

              At the 5 yardline that's a 22 yard FG.
              A PAT is 32 yards.
