Let the Rivers trade rumors begin

A lot of rumors flying around about something that just is never going to happen.

Right until they draft Watson with the 7th pick.

Watson would make sense. It is going to take a couple of years for him to get ready to be a real NFL QB. He has a lot of work on his mechanics and learning to be a drop back passer. A couple of years behind Rivers is not a horrible idea.

he could do some of the Dak Prescott thing in a pinch, but Prescott was a lot further along as a decision maker. And Prescott is not a great drop back passer. He is still not what ost teams look for ina qb. Stick him on a team with a poor OL and weak running game, he would not be able to carry the team throwing a ton. He has to learn how to run the 5 step passing game, and that takes time. Even Goff and Wentz have a lot to learn about being NFL QB's, and they are a lot further along than Watson (or Prescott).

Damn, I mentioned the possibility of trading Rivers 4 years ago and got hated hard on here. He has lost value since then and when I first mentioned it the people on here thought we would get very little for him.

I wasn't on here yet, but I'd assume people were against trading Rivers for football reasons. I hope Rivers gets traded for non-football reasons: because he deserves better than the Spanii and the LA Carpetbaggers.

Yep. The Chargers actually have a chance to be good next year. We have high draft picks, some cap space to work with and a lot of young guys that got force fed experience last year. If (and it's a HUGE if with this team) we can have even a normal year of injuries by league standards and we fix our ST, we will be in the playoff hunt.
