LOL, if they keep him I'm going to continue wondering how much John is still pulling the strings behind the scenes? and I'm only saying this because it was obvious to anyone watching that stick is not up to snuff....his 2.6 mil deal becomes guaranteed in about 2 weeks, maybe then John will let them cut him...he'll be one of the highest paid PS players in the NFL...

Ridiculous...sorry...let the Spanos alone. They did the right thing, finally, and are hands off...this is about an all in attitude with Herbert, and maintaining good chemistry in the QB room. Stick is a very good pro and teammate, and a backup's job entails a great deal, if they are doing it right. He is Herberts best man, and Im good with that...he is a consumate professional with a good football mind...yes, I would prefer he was made an assistant qb coach...but I dont see anybody out there that can win more games than they lose if Herbie goes down long term. But I concede...my attitude towards backups has always been that, if you lose your starter longterm, you are done...so all they are really for is support, mop up duty, maybe a game or two a season....I never hang my hat on whether they can win with their arm talent...but rather on the professional support they bring in practice, film room, and on the sidelines. My guess...Stick is here to stay this season.

lots of examples to counter your approach to backups, Hostetler, Kubiak, Reich,...etc...a good backup can stop the bleeding while you get your starter back, I get that Stick is supposedly bosom buddies with Herbert but wasn't that the same story with Chase Daniel? Somehow Herbert moved on once he was let go...Herbert doesn't need these scrubs, he needs a back up that he can trust in a pinch to win a game or two if he has to miss a bit of time...
