I’m not gonna just dick ride a pick or team and just say it’s great. I tell it like it is.
I never said Joe Alt was a bad prospect. I evaluated him and looked at his tape. Read my post. I’m fine. Post them.
He’s a 6,9” Tackle. That is good. Yeah if I’m picking top 5 I want an Anthony Munoz Jonathan Ogden tackle. He better be generational. Just like we say for Quarterbacks. I evaluate every position.
I don’t want Tyron Smith at 5 I want Anthony Munoz give me the best of the best a Joe Thomas.
As good as Nate Soldier was I don’t want that I want the top tackle where I don’t have to be concerned about my Quarterback.
Nobody says it so I will. I want Joe Alt to be better than Rashawn Slater and he better be. Rashawn was drafted at 12. That’s not where the Chargers are drafting 5 is 5.
let’s not sit here and act like Nabers is shit because everybody was all over him. I looked at his tape and was impressed. I was a Brock Bowers guy. I started out as that. I’m not running from that.
But I can admit that Joe Alt was the better overall prospect than Brock Bowers. And it’s clear where Alt was drafted.
so let’s call it where we see it. I see him Alt in that tier as elite Tackle who can wear a gold jacket. The plan is to maul teams.
I also saw a lot of guys talking shit about Joe Alt after the combine. So let’s just keep it 100.
We say if a guys a number 1 pick as a Quarterback like Caleb Williams he better be Joe Montana or Peyton Manning. So why can’t we do it for Tackles.? I have no problem with it.

But not so much a skill thing. More weight related. I do think he may end up being the better run blocker than Alt. Alt is not free from sin imo. He has some things he needs to work on. I was in the WR/Bowers camp.

Atl is the wisest choice in hindsight and the grown-up decision, I'm glad I wasn't picking because I would have picked Bowers and watched all the elite OT talent go away by mid first round.
Now that, "my guy" is gone, let's go all-in on Jim's vision.
