Hayden Hurst was a walk-on at South Carolina - a 22-year-old freshman in 2015. In high school he had quit football to focus on baseball, his sights set on becoming a major league pitcher. He was drafted by the Pirates in the 12th round of the 2012 MLB draft, turning down a baseball scholarship to Fla State. He got a $400k signing bonus. But things went haywire and he lost his ability, mentally, throw a baseball accurately. He bombed out of baseball and decided to try football. He's a naturally gifted athlete and he became a star at South Carolina. After three seasons, at age 25 in 2018, the Ravens drafted him #25 overall. Honestly, when you look at his college production, it's hard to understand why he was a first round pick. He was the Raven's 1st pick in that draft - ahead of Lamar Jackson. He will turn 31 a few weeks before the season starts.

      Clean shaven? sheesh!

Of course the guy was a flop as a pitcher, he didn't have a beard.
      What a mistake!

this guy below would have been painting corners with his fastball.

don't think we're gonna see any TE that doesn't block as well as catch passes, and.... just read a pundit who prognosticates that Harbaugh would also be looking for a tall TE ??

both Hurst and Wissly are 6'4", and so.... guessing 6'3" is not a deal breaker ??

the dudes that block are Bowers (6'3") and Sinnott (6'4"), and.... really think it's gonna come down to the one of 'em, as sure seems GRo/Harbo are fairly insistent on a top end blocker @TE ??

Wiley (6'6") is still a fair bit behind, albeit could be excused as a later round prospect.... maybe ?? AJ Barner (6'6") is also perhaps a serviceable inline TE, but is not the pass catcher that Wiley or others are.

Tip Reiman (6'5") is not much in the way of a pass catcher nor blocker, and despite what plenty o' peoples have claimed otherwise.

Tanner McLachlan (6'5") is more in line w/Wiley 'n Barner, in that he is a serviceable blocker and a so so pass catcher.

the other guy that might be worth a mention is McCallan Castles (6'4"), and still.... not a whole lot to get excited 'bout.

watchlist for 2025 (there's only one that blocks 'n catches to GRo/Harbo specs, and.... dude still needs to develop/improve next college season).... Oronde Gadsden

Jared Wiley has the size and athletic ability. Coaching and strength training will benefit him.
Cade Stover is the raw prospect. The knock on him is his playing speed. But as he learns the position (and nuances) he will begin to play faster. Has the LB mentality that will benefit him in a Harbaugh system.
I've always liked Sinnott for his physicalness... another good fit for Harbaugh.

            I'd target the 4th/5th round.

Wiley looks like a very intriguing development project. agree.

Stover is consistently rated higher, when I watch his tape I get nothing but meh. idunno - just nothing has separated him from the other guys all the way down to TE8 or so, maybe i'm missing it

The TE group is Brock Bowers... and everyone else. However, I think there are some developmental guys with good upside. Which is why I mentioned Cade Stover. In the end, I believe they are going after guys that can block and catch... Hurst said, "You have to do everything". Another guy I discovered recently that fits that "do everything" and still developing is Jack Westover from Washington.
