Even if Pipkins loses out to Salyer by the start of the season, this team will have most experienced depth backing up the starters that I can remember...

either Salyer or Pipkins as backup gives you a player with 2 seasons of starting experience as a reserve, Jaimes is going into year 4 and played in a handful of games last year, Sarrell is going into year 3 and also got some experience last season, McFadden is going into year 2 and played some last year as well...Salyer can fill in at every position except center, Jaimes in theory could fill in at all 5 positions, Sarell is IMO a RT but it seems that this staff sees him as a swing tackle, McFadden was mentioned as a possible center flex guy that has played some guard for us, in theory he could also fill in at tackle in a pinch as well?

seems to me like Jaimes has the lead ATM to become the #1 B/U at center, it remains to be seen if Pipkins retains the RG spot and how that affects whether who becomes the swing tackle between Salyer or Sarrell...

BTW, I'm rooting for Barnhart to make the squad but he'd have to beat out either McFadden, Sarrell, Jaimes, or Salyer...Barnahart's outside shot to make the roster would require Pipkins losing the RG spot to Salyer, which in turn would probably make Sarrell the odd man out due to having less position flex...I just don't see them keeping both Sarrell and Pipkins as B/U offensive tackles with only two interior O-line backups, plus Barnhart also has some tackle flex...

Yes I was the last one holding the rope of previous HC until that Raider game where the team appear to quit on him. And then I finally let go of the rope and posted I'm out. And changed course to Jim has to be the hire and they need to stick with a system. Stop changing HC and OC and everything with Herbert. Give him a chance to get cozy in a system. Hortiz as the GM hire was my first choice as well. And Alt as the pick. So since they clean house. I've got my #1 HC, GM and Draft Pick.
      I'm as optimistic as ever.

We just disagree about Pipkins. You do NOT want me to side with you anyway. It would be dishonest opinion to join your take. I'd prefer to organically see that Pipkins was all you expected him to be as a top 5 OL and the starting RG. I just have zero expectations of him and think the field will take his job during pads and pre season. I could care less about being wrong or right. Or I would not go out on limbs with strong takes. I want them to win. I wanted Telecant fired for poor roster for years while so many said he was a good GM and it was coaching. And I said well who hired these coaches. And I got excuses from many Bolt fans. Yet that doesn't prove I was right. This isn't math. This is subjective stuff.

No more excuses. Everything is aligned now. Bolts are Charging ahead toward Multiple Championships. If I am putting stock into anything Jim said ......it is that phrase.
Multiple Superbowls. Who has it better than us?!?!?
IMHO, when Harbaugh was talking about the starting 5 that's going into TC and what he sees as the starting 5 but that could change during TC and pre-season. I'm guessing he has a lot of confidence that Pip will confirm those thoughts when the pads come on. In other words, it's his job to lose. I'm just looking forward to TC to see how this all shakes out.

Yeah, that is kinda what I was getting at. The o-line depth has sucked for years. It looks like they will finally have solid depth this year and lord knows they will likely need it. It's likely atleast 1 o-lineman will be out a few games with an injury. Even if Salyer beats out Pip they will not trade Pip. He can play both guard and tackle.

Jaimes is really a guy I am pulling for. He will likely be b/u center this year but has a chance to be a starter in a year or 2. If he becomes a starter next year and Pip works out as guard, they will have 4 of 5 OTs on the line.

I'm kinda surprised no one is really talking about what Harbaugh said about the IDL. That was another unit was horrible last year. He had some high praises for Ford and Matlock. This is another unit I can't wait to see when the pads come on.

Lol, bro - i'm just playing around. don't take me too seriously - i'm not that important and i'm not that serious. its just smack talk banter, I thought the ice cream demand would reveal it was all in humor. I'm just having fun bullshitting about my favorite team here with my fellow bolt-buddies. I don't take my great and incredibly accurate prediction that seriously. but I do hope you heal from this experience as soon as you heal from your Pipkins pain.

I held with staley longer than many, not as long as you. I called for Telesco firing for about 3+ years? I finally resolved he is mediocre average and has the skill to build at best an average roster and build/hire coaching staff that is worse - hence his end record was somewhere around the 0.500 mark. agree.

Its not "we" anymore. you now disagree with the coaching staff. you can take me out of the picture, you need to fight with Coach Harbaugh now.

Coaches don't name starters with the expectation its just a "today" starter and not who they expect will be the starter for reg season. Its fun to read contorted posts by guys who can't accept Pipkins and resort to verbal gymnastics to explain how they are still not wrong. Guys that normally talk about the importance of an OL having experience together and working together and building understanding and rapport and blah blah blah --- now all a sudden they think its a great idea to just play revolving OL all thru TC and PS? yeah - no, Coach knows better than that.

Can things change - sure. Is this the coach's plan for his starting OL - yes. he literally said so. He knows his best path to success is pick your best OL players and then work them as a single unified group, not play mix n match games all training camp and preseason.

Think about how handy that money must've come in over the last two seasons...Jamaree was getting it all at once in one lump sum after all the regular season checks had dried up and most NFL players had no money coming in...

That's HUGE, it's basically a whole extra season worth of base pay earnings in one big check after nobody else is drawing pay and next offseason he won't be getting that if he can't regain a starting spot...I'm sure that's going to motivate him to get back into the starting lineup, I can't imagine how it wouldn't...
Salyer’s gonna hurt somebody when the pads go on. I don’t see him giving up his starting spot easily.

oh, you guys ... lol. F21 had found a perfectly good tweet (x?) of Q one-handing it. sure it doesnt prove eternal change but that didn't stop this crowd from carping on one peekaboo laser dart out from behind a blinded curtain, now did it? and yeah - he was open as all shit!

F - here's the tweet you should have posted, we don't need your former Target employee turned expert podcaster glomming on someone else's tweet who's farming for impressions or something, idunno.
