Right now, according to Spotrac they have $21mil in cap space.
If the Chargers can sign Trey Smith, it would be huge. They could also go after Cs like Drew Dalman, Coleman Shelton or even Ryan Kelly. Or they draft a guy like Jake Majors in the 2nd. Either way, they need to upgrade C and RG in the offseason. Zion has one more year and then they will draft a LG.

Yea, they won’t be able to keep him with Jawan Taylor, Creed Hunphrey’s and Joe Thuney’s contracts. Maybe some restructuring and cutting might do the trick, but that leaves them with very little after that. They’ll replace him in the draft.

Just let Hortiz draft a C and G.

Catch #2: QJ wide left. DD motions left. McConkey lined up to the right. Both DD and QJ carry their men (and a safety with them). McConkey runs to open space vacated by defenders. No nifty route running... just good play design.
Catch #3: QJ wide left. McConkey right. QJ carries his man and the safety deep. Again McConkey runs to the open vacated area... very similar to Catch #2.
Catch #4: Trips right. Dissly outside carries the safety. Palmer middle presses the seam. McConkey inside runs a square-out to a cleared out zone. Crisp route but nothing special. Another great play design.
Catch #6: QJ wide left. DD slot left. QJ runs a go-route. DD presses the seam and takes the safety. McConkey mid-right runs a square-in and catches in the cleared out area... very similar to Catches #2 and #3. Dissly lined up tight right occupies a LB. Nice play design. Crisp route but nothing special.
Catch #7: Trips left... see catch #4 for details.
Catch #8: Trips right. Dissly wide occupies the CB. McConkey middle runs another square-in. Reager inside presses the opposite seam and occupies the safety... McConkey simply follows Reager into cleared out area. Another crisp route...
Catch #9: Trips right. Palmer presses deep, occupies the safety. McConkey runs a deep hook.
I'm not taking anything away from McConkey... because I love the pick!
I'm not gas-lighting you... I'm just watching play design. Atlanta decided to play deep safeties and guard against the deep shots to QJ, DD, and Palmer. It's not a coincidence that Palmer is averaging 17.3 ypc and QJ is averaging 15.3 ypc this year. These are deeper designed routes that require saftey help. Bag on the OL if you must... but deeper routes require the OL to pass block much longer than years before. There will be more sacks... but there will also be more "explosive plays".OLineCentric

The critque I have for Roman from yesterday's game was that he didn't run enough. The running game was working. An effective running game brings those safeties up and creates space deep. The Falcons chose to keep the lid on. False starts and holding have sometimes put the Chargers in bad run situations... The injury to Dobbins is tough, too. But Gus actually looked decent yesterday.
Part of me thinks Roman is holding some plays back for the playoffs. Chark...? I don't know what's going on there...OLineCentric
