Thank you for giving permission, I'm sure it'll mean a lot to Herbert, Hortiz, and Harbaugh...

We have no way of knowing for sure either way, but it was either; Johnny and TT sucked, or just TT sucked . . . . . . . . . . . . . the way Hortiz has gone about his business, in the draft and FA, leads me to strongly believe that he, and only he (and Harbaugh) - has control as GM.

I for one cannot believe that a head coach as prominent as Jim Harbaugh would have taken the Chargers job without assurances that ownership would not interfere . . . . . . . . . . which leads me to suspect that they (ownership) were interfering at some level prior to Jim's hire. JMHO

        Don't remind me . . . . . . . . . . what makes Stick so valuable??? I don't get it . . . . . . . .

If your organization fails because you never were able to convince your owner to make the right choices in 11 years, you are a bad general manager.

You want to believe TT made zero decisions in his 11 year tenure and everything was John’s fault. John left the scouting department in 2015. I don’t give TT that much excuse, as I don’t believe it - but you are simply trading his failure at selecting staff and players with a different failure to influence the organization so who cares.

If your preferred explanation of Charger history is that Telesco was a weak ass butt-licking yes-man fraud, how does that help him?

I think there’s plenty of both types of TT failure but it doesnt matter WHY he was a bad GM anymore. He just was.

            I'm in the same boat as you are in regards to 'managing up', it's a daily exercise for me, and THIS is 1000% correct . . . . . . . . . . .

Part of raising the WR bar in here. Before ths season some thought Palmer could slide right in and be ok as a top 2 WR. I never saw his ceiling any better than WR3 and not an exciting one at that.

Whether someone like Higgins or not, at some point the Chargers will have to pay up for a WR if they want a true WR1. Even if we drafted a stud alpha WR, he will want to be paid after his rookie contract. There is a going rate.
I don’’t get our good friends here. You are right about Palmer. He’s not an WR1 nor a WR2. Are they trying to argue we have a good WR group because of Fehoko and Rice? bruh … speechless.

And he didn’t leave the scouting department. He was promoted but the department is still under the umbrella of his management.

Scouts sit down the hall from him, he attends meetings with them, and he’s probably copied on every email and significant text message because the buck still stops with him.

oh. I thought you said all of the bad picks were John’s fault. You can understand my confusion. John did leave the scouting department - he is the President of Football Operations not since last year, but since 2015. That has lots of employees in 9 different departments, why do you believe he spent all day every day with player personnel staff, micro-managing and overruling his GM to choose which scouts should scout and which scouting reports should result in LAC players? I think you give Johnny way too much credit personally.

John Spanos was named President of Football Operations for the Chargers in May 2015 and oversees all football-related functions of the team, including player personnel, coaching, player finance and the salary cap, medical, equipment, video, player engagement and security.
TT was the GM responsible for player personnel for 11 years - you have different reasons why he wasn’t good at it, it seems primarily you think he couldn’t get his boss to hire good scouts or select good players. Without agreeing to that, I still don’t see why we should care about which of TT’s deficiencies were most dominant. If that is why he failed, then he still failed.

Higgins hasn't done himself any favors this year pulling himself out of games with a mystery hamstring and why? Because he was pissed about getting only like 23 million on the franchise tag?! How many guys in the NFL will never make that in a career? Do some research because a lot was written about whether or not he was actually injured and with their team struggling both him and Chase created a toxic situation in that locker room this season over money, fuck that shit, we don't need that element on our team from our WR corps, Mahommes has won what, two super bowls since they shipped one of those assholes out of KC? give me a couple more McConkeys and you can keep your prima donna type WRs, the hell with those guys...
How about we sign Tee, but maybe he loses the diva schtick out of respect for Harbo...

how about we draft our own? Hortiz traded up for McConkey, that tells me understands what he wants in a WR, I'm looking forward to seeing what WR he drafts next and if they can get Rice to play ball and mature a bit we might havre something, with or without Johnstone...

fuck paying a WR 30 plus million a year, are you guys serious with that shit? if it was Jefferson or Chase I'd be on board, IMO those are the only guys out there right now remotely close to being worth that type of money, but Higgins, hell no!

quality WRs are coming out yearly we've been over this year after year, colleges are producing top level wideouts at a rate never seen before due to all the passing offenses in College nowadays...

I seriously doubt Higgins is going to get $30mil.
