Pipkins has had 5 years to develop... and largely hasn't. It's about the traits @OT. The slow feet are a huge problem. The fact that he isn't very physical is another problem. Finesse worked for TT (or not). Harbaugh/Roman are going to ask their OT's to be much stronger and have very good movement skills. They will have to hit their landmarks in the run game and many times pass block all by themselves. Many people believe that TE Dissley will help Pipkins out a good percentage of the time. But largely @Baltimore (and @Seattle) the TE's go 1 v 1 vs DE's and LB's. Roman talks about Dissley being a great B-Gap blocker. He will be doing his own work... his job shouldn't be holding Pipki's hand in the blocking game.
@OG, you don't have to cover as much ground and space. You have help to both sides. Salyer has had only 1 year @RG... we're not talking about 5 years... we're talking one year at a position he's never played. In no way am I saying he should be @RG. In fact, I've suggested getting a true RG in the draft. There is nothing wrong with depth along the OL. IMO, good OG's can be had in the 3rd or 4th round this draft.
Most of this conversation has been about the 1st round prospects... certainly you don't suggest we take an OG in the first round...
What are your ideas about fixing the OL... are you simply putting guys into a scheme they don't fit and then praying to the heavens that the coaching will magically fix them...? Or is your philosophy simply to complain about the OL in general... but do nothing to fix it...?
I would be fine taking a RT in the 2nd round or down the line. I would not be fine taking a RT @5.
RG normally do not go in Rd 1. Zion thus far has been a disappointment and he was taken in Rd 1. Salyer is a different story. He was brought in at Geogia to play OG. He was moved to OT because of injury. So it's exactly has you say. He's played OG in college and now in the NFL. BUT he is a 6th rounder and he did a great job at LOT when Slayer went down. We've been saying this now for 1 year. Why not move Sayler to RT and give him a chance there?

Between Andrew Farmer and Brevin Allen, I say one proves to be worthy of keeping in 2025 over Rumph.
Both might be more talented than what Minter had in 2023.Darius "4.36" Davis

I saw Gerald Everett helping out Pipkins to block Maxx Crosby in the first Raider game last year. And other games he had help from from a TE to block an edge rusher. Pipkins has trouble with the elite edge rushers. But then, a lot of OTs do. Pipkins does a better job against mid tier edge players or below that.
My feeling is that Herbert hasn't been able to do all the things he's capable of... a lot of that falls on the protection (or lack thereof).OLineCentric

Pip ran a 5.12 40 at the combine .... that's pretty good. I've seen Pip get down the field fast enough .... not that I paid that much attention to it.
Guess who ran a 5.13 40?
