Exactly right. So if they are targeting a player and Wilkins says "yes" - and I agree - he is really the only big name that intrigues me -- but if he says yes, you might see other players released. Forget trade, just released

But the Chargers do not need to be under the cap until Wednesday morning - so they have time. Probably just trying to see "... if this happens, we do that; if that happens, we do this.."

Going with my prediction earlier: One extension, one trade, one June 1 release, one outright release

And Bosa doesn't need to take a pay cut. If he is released he can go play in San Fran with his brother for the league minimum

If they cut/trade the big 4 everything is on the table, IMHO. Will they do it? That remains to be seen.

Well, he’s been hurt and the folks that want to get rid of him assume more of that same. Idunno if thats correct or not. But the one position that gets paid more than top IDL is Top Edge.

That's part of it. Being hurt is being unavailable, and being unavailable means zero impact. As much as I'm down on Joey I'm on the record as being OK to keep him IF his salary is commensurate with his impact, which it hasn't been for (at least) 3 years. We cannot afford to sink huge chunks of our cap and devote a roster spot to someone who probably will only play half of our games (at best) and doesn't elevate the play of the guys surrounding him (a la Chris Jones). It's not good resource allocation.

I've not looked it up but I'd be willing to bet that KVN has played more plays, has better stats, and has had a larger positive impact for his team than Bosa these last 3 years. Then compare the $$$'s invested in each. This exercise will illustrate one of the reasons why the Chargers have had such poor depth . . . . . . . . . . the resource allocation of the previous regime was extremely poor.

It's quite possible that the change in the general manager position could have more impact on our W/L record in 2024 than even the HC change . . . . . .

Just listening. I mean if a team offers a first, you have to listen. But then you are trading Herbs guy he trusts the most. Things to consider.

And if they trade Keenan. ...he said he might retire. Id say only if they trade him to a team with a good QB would he maybe not retire.
He has the music thing he does that he loves, he don't need to play if there are no Chargers records to chase like he was aiming for.

Not that I'm advocating for it because I think we should keep Allen for at least 1 year, probably 2, but it may not be a bad thing if he's not here to force a break in Justin's dependency on him. The passing offense works better when it's not all focused on one guy . . . . . . .

Pretty solid IDL - gets a good pass rush

Texans probably make more sense with the DeMeco connection
But if not Wilkins, Armstead wouldn't be bad solution for IDL - dollars of course

As a disclaimer - if only Allen is back of the four contracts, I think that is pretty much pulling the band-aid. It doesn't need to be all four.

Those are not 2024 salaries. That column represents the cap hit if they remain on the team without a redo of their contracts.

But in any case something needs to be done. We won't have them on the roster with those salaries. Likely some will be release or traded
if not all four.
