He's a very good rotation player. He seems like he has a quick first step and can get low, and has the perfect height and arm length for a rotation NT.

My understanding is that he wanted a big new contract entering year 4 with Tennessee which he didn't get and pouted.
Signed a prove it contract with Miami which didn't pan out.

Here's what Mike McDonald said about releasing him.

"Just one of those situations where you can see that it's, from a scheme standpoint, it's not totally a fit," McDaniel said. "And when you know that you have a veteran player that has ambitions, that maybe as a coach and staff we can see it might not fit, we try to be proactive with that so he has the opportunity in the next place to do what we know he wants to do."

The signing of Tart in the offseason always looked like a low-risk, high-reward proposition for the Dolphins, based on the reports out of Tennessee after his release from the Titans late last season that Tart didn't always play hard.

McDaniel didn't mention anything about effort in his comments Wednesday, though it's fair to wonder whether he would have made any disparaging remarks about a player on his way out simply because it's not his style.

I think the issue is whether he's motivated or not. Flame out in L.A. and his career might be over ... the Chargers releasing him quickly.

    Competition is welcome!

This says Bosa is the worst teammate on the Chargers (7:20)

He likes to create mismatches up front. Think of the monster games Wolverine Dlinemen had in the playoffs.
NFL has roster limitations. I think there will be rotation but not like at Mich. We'll keep no more than 6, probably 5 interior DL and Fox doesn't play NT.
I think Ford, Tito and one of Hinton / Tart will play NT. Fox, and 1 of Matlock / Oboigbe at 3T. I think Minter gets tricky with Edge/ OLB/ LB alignments and blitzes.
          I think we keep 10 Edge / OLB/ ILBs.

            True.

Medium level NTs are stashable (see RBs.)

I bet Hortiz KNOWS he needs depth up front for Harbs.

Comp picks are for more bites at the apple and depth building.

So a bunch of Philadelphia fans, on crack that booed Santa Clause? I think I can find a more reliable football opinion in prison talking with Turd fans.

This may the case. They may keep an extra IDL with players rotating in and out based on situation with no well-defined depth chart. Ron Rivera did this in 2009 after Big 'Mal went down with injury. He had a rotation going at IDL. It worked well enough to win 11 straight games despite losing Jamaal, who was a top 3 IDL in his day.

Would you ever have wanted Riverboat Ron for LAC HC ?

Where's Vince Wilfork when you need him?
Minter can do a lot with our Edge and LBs but I think a beast DL is in our future.

Bad teammate in terms of missing a lot of games ..... bouncing that helmet in front of Staley that cost them the one point against Jacksonville - perhaps.

Working out with his brother in the off season.

I just don't see it ..... always praising teammates and generously helping some out with technique.

I’d be really happy picking him in the low 30s.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I don't know about Ron Rivera as HC, but I think he would've been better than Mike McCoy, Anthony Lynn or Branden Staley.

Rivera normally rostered 6 DL for the 3-4 scheme they were running when Jamal was a dominant NT in the league. In 2009 they lost Jamal for the season in week 1 v the Raiders. (It would be Jamal's last game for the Chargers.)

Rivera brought in Ian Scott and Alfonso Boone - two of his Chicago guys - after Jamal went down. Jacque Cesair, Luis Castillo, Vaughn Martin, Travis Johnson and Nwagbuo Ogemdi were also on the roster.

Rivera kept 7 DL on the roster for the rest of the season and rotated them depending on situation and kept everyone fresh. In December Ogemedi was lost for the season and AJ Smith poached Antonio Garay off the Jets' practice squad.

It worked, after starting 2-3, the Chargers won 11 straight to close the season with 13 wins. (Then they lost to Jets in the playoffs.)
