It won't rebalance unless teams switch to more run balance offense. Teams have gone more pass happy with more wr sets.

The pendulum does seem to be swinging a bit back but it’s a different type of rushing attack to, more in sync with the rhythms of the passing game and featuring more and more RBs that can deliver in passing situations…

Boyd would be a nice safety blanket for Herbert. He is like a poor man’s Keenan. Not very fast or flashy but gets open, has great hands, runs good routes. He is also pretty feisty and will block. I think it just comes down to money and the Chargers are probably looking for a one year bargain with him. He doesn’t need to take a deal like that now. He can wait as they will be available for months if he has to go that route. He would shine with Herbert and that may be a factor, though.

Same goes for Dobbins. He will have choices of the best one year deal as time goes by. Chargers may not want to sign either guy until after the draft as it may drive the price down and does not count as a comp pick FA

Spot on, I think the chargers might be wanting to wait until after the draft to make any more signings…I’m thinking they will still sign another 2-3 more free agents after the draft and I’m not referring to priority free agents out college, 2-3 more veterans…

For the record I haven’t read anything about this, it’s just some 🐂 💩 that popped into my head so yeah it’s probably completely whack, I’m probably jumping the gun based on what happened to the WR market this offseason based on the strength of this particular WR class…it surprises me that aside from two WR contracts that were kind of suspect, the WR market seems to be really down…Keenan’s 23mil on a deal he signed years ago is still up there with what Ridley and Evans got in fact I think it’s more APY than both of those guys…

and then again, you could be prophetic. It does feel like more good WRs are being developed in college, beats me if thats a statistical noise fluke or a true trend that changes the supply & demand model. The league is notoriously cyclical - beats me exactly whats the next next.

I think you guys are right - no significant signing until after the draft? Perhaps a vet-min deal here or there that is non-guaranteed and can be cut if situations change. Otherwise - I heard Joe talk about wanting to both see the draft and what players teams might cut after the draft.

Id just sign Palmer now and then draft another WR.

One thing that must be mentioned is that a Boyd type (toughness, strong hands , route running and going over the middle) are a good fit for us.
That is perferct slotting and Steve Smith approved.

Is anyone else at least mildly shocked by this, as I am? I hadn't heard any rumors of this, nor was it posted in these parts. What was the motivation? Salary? Discontentment? Diggs has a history of being a bit of a diva.
