If they really like one of the top WR in draft, then they will likely draft one. However It will be a strong sign of how Joe and Jim want to do business if they draft OL/DL in Rd 1 and Rd 2. And simply add a draft pick WR in mid rd and couple of veteran WRs at discount.

games. We lost a lot of games in the last two minutes. You know what you need to win games in the last two minutes? A passing game and FG

Running the ball won't do it. It keeps games close as you run down the clock. But you also need lots of downs to get the TD or FG.
People here are complaining about the short passes to Allen. Well wait till you see Gus two yards and a cloud of dust offense that you're clamoring
for. I don't think so. Harbaugh loves Herbert and it's not because we're going to run the football 80% of the time.

We will not be able to run the football effectively without the threat of a passing game. Teams will just stack the box and dare us to throw.
To who? Our current WRs are easily handled by 2 CBs. We don't yet have a TE threat worth talking about and no RB that can catch the

Understand Harbaugh wants to get tough in the trenches. That just makes for a better all round football team.

Without trading Allen we had plenty of room for the draft, in season trades and the type of FA we are currently bringing in. We currently now have
close to $40M in pure cap space IF the Bosa numbers are correct. They have not been listed on Spotrac or OvertheCap just yet.

So I don't buy it. Allen was expensive, he was also the biggest producer on offense. This is a move Hortiz wanted. We don't yet know what the
guy is cooking up.

One problem with Keenan last year was that the Chargers weren't converting in crunch time, near the end of games, on 3rd/4rth downs.

There were key 4rth quarter drives that ended before they got started with sacks, and then there were key drives that ended near the red zone on passes with no one open, the field goal then being attempted. The other teams offense then shoved it up the kazoo of Staley's D for the win.

Too many of the later variety ... and it endured during the Staley era.

CB is a big need, one we haven't discussed enough. The best CBs on the roster are JAGs. The rest aren't even that.

Yeah, I was just looking at that. Couple of good ones that over 30 but might be worth it on a 1 yr deal. Gilmore and Nelson.

The Bolts' #5 pick is worth 1,700 pts

The Vikes' #11 and #23 are worth 2,010 pts (1,250 + 760)

Ariz's #4 pick is worth 1,800

NE's #3 pick is worth 2,200

I think they've obtained 2 #1's because they know they lose one of them (plus other round selections) to move up, and still want to have a #1 selection. I don't think they'll use them both to move up . . . . . . . .

At the time he traded Allen we were not cap strapped. Hortiz for sure wanted more cap. That's why he wanted Allen to take a pay cut. He traded
Allen for cap space. The question now remains why? What's the plan? We have almost $40M in cap space right now if the Bosa numbers are
correct.

Popper has us at roughly $21 million after rookie signings and emergency in season signings. I think we use the remaining $21 million to address some more positions of needs before the draft like Center, OG, ILB, WR etc. At a bargain rate of course. Maybe use some of the money to extend Slater? And maybe we let some of it roll over to cover some of the bigger hits like Herbert’s cap next year to give us some salary flexibility.

That's not insurmountable - they have one next year I presume? Swap #1's, this years #3 & #4 + next year's #2?
