One can only hope that he will bring some of the overpaid underperformers with him.

Raiders fans are happy with the thinking they suck in 1st round hits but do well later. TT is good on 1st round and suck after.

Hopefully that have 10 years to figure it all out

I read quotes from Antonio Pierce presser after Telesco hire. I realize he is new to all of this and dealing with the media is no fun. But he had prepared remarks. He said a lot about not knowing Telesco, being willing to work with him, that they both need to set their egos aside, that he is willing to give it a shot. Sure did not sound like he was excited, happy or felt Telesco was the best option. Maybe not starting out too well?

it is one thing for someone to hire as Staley as DC after this massive fail, but we would be FLOORED if someone hired Staley as HC tomorrow.

However, that is basically what the Raiders did with Telesco - we kicked him to the curb as GM, and then the Raiders brought him in off the street as GM.

why not get one of the assistant GM's from the Ravens, Philly, 49ers, etc., teams that seem to stack their roster with quality players. With a little bit of due diligence on Telesco, you would see names like McKitty, Spiller, JT Woods, etc. As many here have noted, his recent 1st round picks were basically gift wrapped for him - Herbert and Slater fell to right to us.

then again, it is the Raiders, so we want them to suck.

I saw a bit of that press conference - Telesco actually said "it starts with winning the division and I know a little something about that" - paraphrasing - Tom must be talking about the Colts year

He mentioned the Raiders having an identity. -- Well lets be honest the Raiders haven't had an identity in years - that was in Oakland with Al Davis

I hope he is as successful of a GM with the Raiders as he was with the Chargers

Telesco deserved to be fired for the record of the team under his tenure, and should have been fired a few years ago. Having said that, I always have this nagging thought that some of the guys he drafted were just not used and developed correctly due to incompetent coaching. It's a moot point now but I'm not as down on him as some - but am still glad we moved on.

What I heard was that Davis was nervous about an unproven first time head coach coupled with an unproven, first time GM. Hence Tom Telesco who according to media has cured cancer, delivered world peace, has cats and dogs living in accord and built a roster that is the envy of the world every year he was with the Chargers.

Pierce sounds a bit immature and I predict a lot of friction in the days/years ahead at Raider world

Im sure he wanted Kelly as the GM.He is bringing in a black OC. Its just the brother thing. And its fine. Or maybe he wasnt impressed by Telesco if he paid attention to us and he thinks it will effect his job if TT dont deliver. Either way, i dont care lol.

On that note....i hope somebody wants to hire Wooden as GM. With all due respect i got nothing against him....i just want the 3rd round comp pick...selfish i know, but we can use it.

Not selfish. Other teams do it.

but I doubt JoJo is getting to be a GM this process. If he is willing to stay and work one year under Harbaugh as Asst Gm to Hortiz - might be his best move

Why do you think - if Minter falls through - why I want them to hire Al Harris or the current Ravens DB coach to be the DC....

Yeah it was kinda awkward seeing two very different personalities out there. Pierce was about that Rockin and rollin and getting crunk while TT is like give me Kenny G while I check my coupons in my man purse.

I hate that he never makes moves/trades during the season other for acquiring a late round draft pick. And he just lets the coaches do whatever they want. I realize we're letting Harbaugh do whatever he wants, but hopefully it doesn't get out of control.

Telesco overstayed his welcome and should have been fired a long time ago. The way he operates is why the Chargers never won a division title in the 11 years he was with the organization.
