And how many times has he choked on the national stage?

If you want to go to the Super Bowl 4 times like the Buffalo Bills did never winning the crown, Harbaugh is definitely your guy.

If you truly want a Super Bowl ring? Look somewhere else.

Let's stop chasing the last great coach and keep looking for the next one.
Give us a name of a non-choker head coach option

As far as looking for the next one - how has that worked out under the Spanii since they hired Al Saunders

    I know this
Harbaugh or Hoodie - all things equal - meaning the roster, the injuries, schedule, everything - would be better than any other coach you can come up with if I were to wager.

Sorry, I can't agree with this. I think it's a mischaracterization of what really happened in SF. Harbaugh took over a 6-10 team that had 8 consecutive non-winning seasons. His first season as HC the 49ers won 13 games. Next season they were 11-4-1, followed by 12-4. In his final season the 49ers were 8-8. Jed York fied Harbaugh, he didn't jump ship. There was a rift between Harbaugh and Trent Baalke over personnel decisions. I'm sure Harbaugh would admit now he could've handled things better. But the 49ers didn't fall apart while he was HC. That happened after York fired him.

York and Baalke proved to be unable to keep the momentum going and made some terrible coaching decisions. The truth is Baalke is not qualified to carry Harbaugh's jock. York finally got smart and fired Baalke and hired Shanahan/Lynch in 2016 and completely removed himself from the football side of the franchise. York has hinted that firing Harbaugh was a mistake, he was young and he learned from it.

It was not Harbaugh who wrecked the 49ers. He immediately turned the franchise around and made it a winner again. It was York and Baalke who tore it down. York admits this.

Harbaugh got the 49ers to the Super Bowl, and lost it by three points because Colin Kaepernick was a one-read QB who tried to go to the well too many times (Anquan Boldin).

The truth about Harbaugh is that has immediately turned every football program he has coached into a winner.

When in the last 3 failed attempts have we chased the last great coach? They’re o’fer on finding the next one. You wanna keep trying at what has failed every single time the Spanos has tried? Insane

another thing for the Spanii to consider - say Hoodie and the Pats part ways; Harbaugh is an option - but they pick Ben Johnson or Mike McDonald to try to get the hot coordinator and Hoodie or Harbaugh goes to the Raiders and kick their a**es like Big Andy has for 11 years and the wonderkind coach fails... that won't look good

From a PR perspective, hiring Harbaugh is a win. Some might question it but not too many people. And I get Ben Johnson probably won't be questioned but the odds are higher of Harbaugh succeeding

NFL will love this hire if it is Harbaugh. LA market, big name, twice a season against Andy Reid and Sean Payton. I think the only way this gets messed up is if Harbaugh, who can be unpredictable, stays at Michigan. The Spanos family won't mess this one up. But Jim is who he is and marches to his own drum.

Hurry up and interview Bienemy so we are first in the door to talk to Harbaugh after the natioinal championshp

                Just get it done!

On Get Up, Domonique Foxworth, Jeff Saturday, Dan Graziano and Dan Orlovsky join Mike Greenberg to talk through whether Jim Harbaugh is set to leave Michigan...

Even the round table understand the talent level of Herbert. Granted, the one guy Acho is also not at that table to espouse his ignorance.

This is video is a really good discussion. Thanks BigBad for posting. Two bottom-line truths:

Jim Harbaugh was won where ever he has coached.

The Chargers job is so attractive because of Justin Herbert. The most important position in football, the most difficult player to get right. It will be the most coveted job opening this off-season.

The formula for most important = QB + OLT+ Pass Rusher.. Chargers look good at all 3 and are picking #6. We're attractive.

The team will also have to get players that want to win.
