How does Denver build a Super Bowl caliber defense in two years..

And we're still falling over ourselves trying to trade up and draft running backs in the first round like a bunch of amateurs. Everybody slammed Elway for his moves the last two years but clearly he is way ahead of the curve compared to our FO. Who cares if the Chargers stay or go, it's still the same clueless motherfuckers running the show.

Rich get richer, Chargers just stay stupid. I swear every Super Bowl is just a painful reminder of just how truly far this franchise is from even sniffing a championship.

Step one: Have 3 key players recover from injuries

Step two: Sign an additional impact player

Step three: Hire Wade Phillips as your defensive coordinator

They drafted Von Miller with the 2nd pick in the draft. I'm not a big draft enthusiast so I don't know what kind of elite pass rushers are available but if there's a stud pass rusher this year, you draft him with the 3rd pick. Ingram is a nice player but he ain't no Von Miller. Not even close. But he could be a really good "other guy".

They did have a couple of other nice draft picks but a lot of their key guys are free agent signings (Ware, Talib, Ward). I think Ward is a little overrated but he's certainly better than signing bums like Derek Cox or resigning Donald Butler.

They have drafted heavy on defense the last several years. Elway has been working towards that since he got there. It's been a lot more than 2 years.

We have been drafting heavy on D for the last couple of years too, but just having a strategy is not the same as having it work.

            Was that Wade's first championship?

              John Elway
              Prediction:
              Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

A combination of having some good FA signings that actually work out..(Talib, Ware)

And hitting on most of your defensive draft picks.

An organizational focus on winning, not just fielding a team, not just a focus on increasing your net worth.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

They have owners who hire the brightest minds available for their football team.

We have owners who hire their relatives for their mom-n'-pop family business.

They drafted well and spent an awful lot of money. They also made themselves attractive by signing Manning. Lots of guys would want to play with him to get a shot at a championship and lots of them knew the Bowlen family and Elway were 100% committed to winning. It's smarts, culture and cash. Now compare that to us.
