I think for most of us Bowie transcended all of our different musical tastes while he played with them all. Other than country, he explored and often conquered new styles.
His last album is another venture into a musical style he hadn't conquered. But did.
So true, and despite his immense talent he wasn't afraid to open himself up to being influenced by others. So many great collaborations over the years: Iggy, Ian Hunter, Freddy Mercury, John Lennon so many others....heck he co produced Transformer, who wouldn't want that on their resume??
Yep, I need to wait a little while to watch it too.
Its worth watching. He made it to be his goodbye and was his parting gift for the world. Its definitely sad and hard to view but I think he knew it would be and that meant people would miss him.
Wow. Y'all are taking this hard because you're normal human beings.
I'm a sociopathic bastard who can't feel badly over celebrities.
The only celebrity deaths I can think of that I thought more than a day about were those of Jerry Garcia and Junior. I loved the Dead and just about everything Jerry did. I only got to see him once and then was stuck watching what was left of the Dead, which, even when they had Warren Haynes, was pretty much like watching a mediocre Grateful Dead tribute band. But, yea, that's not really about Jerry. It's about me missing out on more good times.
And Junior. That was a shock. It meant a day of watching the Spanoses' run to the AFC Championship over and over again. But that was really more about me and my memories with family and friends than it was about poor Junior.
My wife is bummed about Bowie. She was a big fan. I'm a big dick.
