Chargers look like the beneficiary of the McCarthy/Moore power struggle in Dallas.
I thought Moore was one of the better play callers considering he had an overrated/overpaid QB and RB the past 2 seasons.
Going to do some research on how Chargers/Cowboys O Lines compared.

Going to do some research on how Chargers/Cowboys O Lines compared.

Cowboys line is still pretty good but overrated compared to their reputation that was earned a few years back. They just had better depth than the Chargers at O-line so the drop off wasn't nearly as catastrophic as when a Chargers lineman went down.

They had a rookie Tyler Smith playing at LG/LT when their longterm LT Tyron Smith went down. They lost their starting RT Terrence Steele who was playing really well to injury then did something really smart. They had signed a 40 year old Jason Peters off the street and had him fill in at different spots on the line during the season and when Tyron Smith came back from injury they played him at RT down the stretch. Their RG Zach Martin is still a great player and the OC is average.

Fuck staley, if justin herbert likes kellen moore then moore is the future, they did announce that herbert would be involved in the hiring AND apparently he knows moore too…

Or it was Staley’s decision with Herbert’s input. Why would you think otherwise? It’s not like they didn’t try something different and interview Joe Brady also. Moore’s pedigree probably overcame Staley’s initial requirements, especially since his offensive scheme is supposed to be adaptable and a mix of different schemes.

As a Boise State guy, I am really excited to see what he can do. You could tell he was really football smart even as a redshirt freshman. Shocked a lot of people in Boise when he was named the starter. It has been really fun to follow his career and no this makes things even more interesting.

As an FYI, in addition to Moore, the cowboys also let the following coaches go:

Rob Davis (Assistant Head Coach)
George Edwards (Senior Defensive Assistant)
Leon Lett (Assistant Defensive Line)
Skip Peete (Running Backs)
Joe Philbin (Offensive Line)
Kyle Valero (Quality Control Analytics)

McCarthy cleaning house.

Skip Peete and Philbin would probably upgrade the current staff. Both have decades of experience coaching in the NFL and would also help with continuity for Moore if he liked coaching with them in Dallas.

Also, if the current HC continues to not want to handover play-calling duties on defense he could make a guy like Philbin an assistant HC/O-line coach and delegate some HC responsibilities over the course of the work week to him to help lighten the load.
