Maybe it is just the personnel. The lineman cant seem to run block and as good as Ekler is at some things I have said before on a Super Bowl team he might be best suited as a 3rd down passing back at which he is awesome.

The defense - nice to add a CB but I hard to think how one CB could improve the defense a lot when you take in the cost to acquire plus the salary

But Geoff Swaim is on the 1-7 Cardinals. He is a solid blocker at TE. Now maybe the Cardinals want to keep him but for a pick swap of 7th and 6th rounders - or just a straight 7th - he would be better at blocking than McKtty. He could possibly improve both the run game and pass protection. Chargers play enough close games where a possession here or there is the difference

It is inexcusable he is even on the field. He misses blocks constantly and only takes costly penalties. No contribution at all, only a liability. Enough!

The problem is he doesn't block.

But I also said it during the offseason - if you are going in, you need better at OL, TE, and maybe other positions. You just don't push all but 3 chips in and continue to play poker - just push them in

The worst thing they can do today is nothing. Either make a couple smaller trades, like say a cheap blocking TE just to see if you can improve the run game
            OR
Sell players: Williams got a 2nd; Sweat got a 2nd - my guess, Bosa and Mack can probably get you some good draft capital

The Chargers are right in that area where they will figure out how to win 7 or 8 game s- not good enough for the playoffs and not bad enough for a top 10 pick

Staley and TT are hoping that ownership will see 7 or 8 wins as (some kind of) progress, and rationalize this as a way to keep them on . . . . . . . . . . .and it just may work with the Spanos, who only want cover to keep from spending more $$$'s.

Granted, 7 wins would be 3 wins less than last year.....," but hey, we started 2-4 and finished 8-9 so we won 6 out of our last 11 games!!!"

Plus, via the JCJackson trade, they did technically increase this years cap - so they have the money. Granted, it sure seems like they are going to just roll that over so that dollars they saved this year just wash out what was added to 2024

That is Spanii math right there!!

                S & T are planning on a W vs NYJ and a 13-4 season right now.

If we win 7 or 8 games this year, Staley is gone and likely Telesco as well.

I truly hope - -I would be happy with getting to 10-7 at this point as that would be finishing 8-3.

Bills paid a 5th round pick for CB Rasul Douglas from GB who will start for them

Actually it was Douglas and a 5th for the Bills 3rd - so maybe a net 4th rounder

They are going to lose to the Jets and the Lions and be 3-6,. Calling it now

Yes you are right I saw that and misread it at first. Still for a starting CB they cn plug in and play that isn't too bad. The real point is, they lost White and has a weakness and need so they dealt with it because they are serious about contending.

When the Chargers lose players they find scrubs off practice squads.
