Marty had Jamaal Williams, Merriman, & Phillips. He also had LT. He had Wade Phillips and Cam Cameron actually calling plays.

Wade Phillips much better DC than Staley.

More positive Charger development. Zander Horvath couldn't do this. TE Stone Smartt is an ex-QB who can also widget block in zone.

Staley’s tenure as the Rams DC was a short one when TT hired him. His team was loaded with talent. After their SB win, if Staley had stayed on with them he probably would have been part of their collapse that followed. TT hired him at the height of that bubble, before it burst. I wonder if TT would have been as eager to hire Staley now if he had waited it thru to a hiring and firing of another HC these 2 years later and now went shopping for a HC. I doubt Staley would be on TT’s short list.

No one looks unstoppable right now. Bengals are in the same situation. Lots and lots of 1-1's. So it's not the end of the world.

            The Chargers are 0-2
One game behind a wildcard spot
One game behind the top of the AFCW and the #4 spot
Amazing that it is the Raiders who are there now !

Ya, good news is we are only 1 game behind in the division and have yet to face an AFCW opponent.
The bad news is those losses were against AFC teams. Not great for tie breakers.

Battle of the bottom feeders next week. Expect the worst, hope for the best, just get one in the win column!

One man's opinion but I thought Popper was out of line with Staley. I can appreciate aggressive journalism when there's an apparent purpose or intention, but imo he was just trolling.

Here's my suggestion to The Athletic:

Hi, I'm a frustrated Chargers fan. We're 0-2. What's worse is that our beat writer Daniel Popper thinks it's appropriate to ask our head coach useless, provoking questions without a genuine reporting interest. I only subscribe to read his writings on the team. If anyone values my subscription and perhaps a few other subscribers that share my sentiment, please be aware that my cancellation will be directly due to another unprofessional Popper shot at Staley. I don't need another distraction, from a media member making things more difficult for Staley. I'm sure Daniel feels he bought himself a bit of credibility among the drones of Staley-haters, and perhaps he did, but imo it was classless and unnecessary. Please ask Popper to do better. Sincerely

Maybe we do play modern football.

                        Which one is it ?
                        Perception.
                        Be wise about perception.
Every Charger fan has a right to be outraged right now.
                        But be wise.
Maybe we do play modern football.

I didn't see it so I can't say. Can never hear the reporters questions.
