I know but Mack will be 33 and just think they have to cut salary and he is one they will cut. If Bosa is targeted, I'd trade him.

I would say at least keep one of the two next year; good edge rushers don't grow on trees...

This is the problem with paying these mega big buck guaranteed contracts. What happens when players aren't even close to what they are getting paid? There's no way they are gonna pay Joey $36 million next year. He is not paid for and we would be better off just eating the $22 mil and moving on. Better to spend $14 mil on younger better players. This problem will be a case study on what not to do with guaranteed money with these football players. JC Jackson and Bosa will change the landscape for guaranteed money just like the failure of RBs to sustain their viability. Get paid and then checkout!

Yep...since we do have an OUT on Bosa's deal after this year, it would make sense to trade him for a pick, but keep Mack until the end of his deal after 2024 season...who knows? Maybe we get a 6th or 7th round comp pick for him...IF he still has some gas left in the tank...

Serious question - if Bosa sucks and is not worth the money and we need to get rid of him, why would any team take on that salary and give up picks in order to do so?

What if Coach Moore started adding fast motion to the pre-snap sequencing for WRs like Johnston, Davis, for example, to put them on rail routes? It would stretch their safeties toward the boundary. Then, attack the middle of the field.

Serious answer - Bosa doen't suck. He's one of the best. That's why other teams dream up a bunch of quick passes, they feat his pass rush.

Yeah let's not pretend that Bosa and Mack are not good. Bosa is something like the 7th or 8th best EDGE in the league. Mack is a little lower than that. The problem is that we have no depth behind them, no interior pass rush, and they're probably our most important run defenders as well. They're not on that top, dominant level like Parsons, Watt, Garrett and Nick Bosa. The Browns defense sucked last year despite having Garrett because the supporting cast was terrible. It might make sense to move off of one or both guys to get some draft capital and start building a deeper defensive line, but Bosa and Mack are still very good players.

Maybe because they think Bosa would do well with a change of scenery...AND I really wonder if Bosa would do better playing for a team with a natural turf stadium...looks like he went with the shorter cleats at Sofi to reduce to possibility of an ankle or knee injury (like Rodgers)...I actually think Bosa would excel on natural turf with the longer cleats and pivoting with no fear of injury...a lot less slipping around like in the Fins game...

Edit: By the way...past 5 yrs, he is 24th in sacks...yea, he has fewer games than some of the guys ahead of him, but still not top 10, and probably edging past his prime

Joey Bosa only just turned 28. He should still have plenty of juice left. His career is being totally eclipsed by his younger brother. Hopefully that motivates him to get back to being the Joey Bosa who was DROY in 2016.

2016 - 10.5 sacks in 12 games
2017 - 12.5 sacks in 16 games
2018 - 5.5 sacks in 7 games
2019 - 11.5 sacks in 16 games
2020 - 7.5 sacks in 12 games
2021 - 10.5 sacks in 16 games
2022 - 2.5 sacks in 5 games

So he's played 7 seasons and basically been a double-digit sack guy every year he stays healthy. Feel free to name 10 EDGEs better. Part of the problem is that during the years he's actually stayed healthy, the rest of the defense sucked. Like I said, Myles Garrett is awesome but the Browns defense still sucked last year because he had no other help on the defensive line and their DC running a Fangio scheme was bad (sound familiar?). How many years did those Colts teams have Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, only for their defense to still suck.

Since Joey entered the league in 2016 he's 12th in sacks behind Donald, TJ Watt, Cam Jordan, Chandler Jones, Myles Garrett, Danielle Hunter, Yannick Ngakoue, Mack, Chris Jones, Von Miller, and Matthew Judon. Again, he's not on that top, top level of passrushers, but he's objectively in that second tier of very good players.

Back to the run defense. Our interior run defense was actually decent last year. You know why we gave up historically bad numbers to outside runs last year? Largely because Bosa was out.
