Any word on Melvin Gordon's injury?

All I have heard is that it is a knee injury, but that's it. Nothing specific about the nature or magnitude of it.

Anybody hear anything more than that?

They said on the post game show that it did not appear to be serious, but nothing more than that.

It looked pretty bad on slow-mo, but looks can be deceiving.

Melvin Gordon - RB - Chargers

Chargers placed RB Melvin Gordon on injured reserve with cartilage damage in his knee, ending his season.
He will undergo surgery. And so ends one of the most disappointing rookie seasons for a heralded NCAA star and top-15 NFL draft pick in recent memory. Gordon averaged 3.48 yards per carry as a rookie, didn't score a single touchdown in 14 games, and fumbled six times, losing four. He was also ineffective in the receiving game, averaging under six yards per catch. Poor offensive line play and San Diego's collective second-half collapse were partially to blame, but most concerning was Gordon's inability to translate his big-play running chops from college into the pros. So far, at least, he's certainly keeping alive the small-sample, largely cherry-picked narrative that Wisconsin running backs can't cut it in the NFL.

Chargers rookie Melvin Gordon will miss the team's final two games, coach Mike McCoy said Monday, due to torn left-knee cartilage the running back sustained against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Gordon was hurt on a running play in the second quarter and didn't return to San Diego's 30-14 victory.

After Chargers medics checked on him, he walked to the locker room at Qualcomm Stadium.

Gordon, who went 15th in the NFL Draft, finished his rookie season with 641 rushing yards on 184 carries (3.5 per carry). He caught 33 of 37 passes for an average of 5.8 per carry. His longest rush was 27 yards.

Though Gordon never scored a touchdown this season, he also seldom played when the offense reached the red zone.

McCoy said Gordon delivered several "outstanding" runs against Miami, despite sub-par blocking. On other rushes, Gordon could've been more decisive, the coach said.

In relief of Gordon, veteran running back Donald Brown rushed 12 times for 90 yards (7.5). McCoy said he was "very happy" with Brown's decisive moves and "downhill" running.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Time for Donald to earn his keep.
              Bummer for Melvin though.

No kidding. The question now isn't whether he's going to improve, but whether he will play well at all after this.

Good for Melvin to get his season ending injury out of the way. All our top picks have to go through it.

that would be the same as NOrv starting Sproles in place of the injured LT- and it had the negative effect of taking away all of Sproles' effectiveness as the change of pace and 3rd down back. DBrown put up 90 yds Sunday and is healthy and paid a lot. Smarter move would be to ride him to replace Gordon and let Woody do what he does best. Maybe they'll activate Dreameus Smith too?
