if you’ve watched Herbert lately, he waits until the receiver is open and waiting which gives the defender extra time to close the gap and defend the pass.
KA isn’t fast but gets open all the time. I think that’s because Herbert and KA have built up trust and timing so Herbert is more willing to chuck the ball to the predetermined spot he expects KA to end up.
Perhaps Herbert just doesn’t have the same expectation and trust with the other receivers.
They need to figure this out and improve or it’s going to more of the same 5 yard passes to a receiver that is blanketed.
