I read one of the Browns' boards. Their fans were pretty much in universal agreement that Staley is an idiot who tried to give them a chance to win when they had none. To give you an idea of how run heavy the Browns and their fans are, almost every poster was disgusted that Chubb was not in the game and that they were not running the ball with only a minute left and no timeouts to make the kick a little easier for York.

Since that's all they can do, that's why we absolutely had to punt in that situation. Staley's misuse of analytics, complete with not understanding who the opponent was, was absolutely incompetent.

Lombardi's repeated clusterfucktastic failure to comprehend that teams run out a clock by getting first downs and not by running the running ball is equally incompetent. If someone is telling me that the 4 plays that we ran on the final series before the kneel down were the best 4 plays that we could have run to get a first down, then that someone is clueless. Two runs into the teeth of the defense and a short pass--just awful play calling before we even got to 4th down.

Nobody is disappointed that we won. But many of us can see that terrible coaching decisions are putting what should be easy wins into jeopardy.

From an announcer’s comment today, I think the Bolts switched from a zone blocking scheme to a power blocking scheme. That’s because Salyer is better at power blocking than zone blocking. And it apparently confused Cleveland because we looked pretty good breaking some long runs.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Maybe someday when we need to run out the clock, Lombardi will figure out that it is not about running the ball, but rather is about getting first downs and that he (Lombardi) is permitted to dial up a pass that travels beyond the line to gain in the air at some point before, you know, 4th down instead of running twice into the teeth of the defense and throwing short.
What about the 50 or so plays that worked well?

But you need luck to work for you to win in the NFL, so I won’t bemoan an outcome that went the Chargers’ way.

Stop. You are not allowed to post anything positive about Lombardi, despite the fact that we scored 30 points, had over 200 yards of rushing, had no turnovers and were playing with a beat up QB and without our starting LT and best WR, all while winning the game. You can only look at very specific plays that didn’t work to properly criticize the coaching staff.

If you - or anyone else who thinks the Chargers' 3-2 record is "all that matters" - would take off the rose-colored glasses for a minute, I think you'd have to admit that this is a middle-of-the-pack team. Maybe not shitty, as I said; but certainly not a playoff team.
                  Currently? No.
                  We've only played 5 games.
It's a very high probability that we'll be a different team after 17 games.
I really liked the way the OL, Ek & Kelley showed up. We outgained the Browns on the ground.
                  That's a big plus over the 1st 4 games.

Win today but you wouldn’t know it in here. It’s the fire Staley thread. If we make the 4th down he’s the ballsiest best coach blah blah. I liked the call going for it. Be aggressive and stop chargering. 1 yard to close it out I like it

Salyer stacking good games. Pipkens seems ok thank god. Zion is going to be all pro soon. Keep winning however the hell we can to stay above the playoff line. Then get Keenan, Joey and Rashawn back and go hunting

Bolt the F UP. Have a good week y’all

I think basically this was Herbert vs Brissett. Brisset showed why he goes from team to team. When you have the better qB, it can overcome a lot of things.

We also didn’t have as talented a roster as many believed last year.
