Yes, I know there is no longer an official "first quarter" (17 games). But, hey, close enough. Here are my votes (which may be better called "Surprising" Studs)
STUDS:
DeAndre Carter: Yes, the fumble he coughed up today almost removed him from this list, but wow has he been a HUGE surprise as a receiver, making some big catches for us.
Bryce Callahan: He's the slot defender, and he's been an absolute stud at it. Probably our most consistent DB.
Dustin Hopkins: Consistently sends kickoffs into (our out of) the endzone. Hits his XP and most of his FG (one miss).
Khalil Mack: He's upgraded our defense in both the run and passing game AND he's made some big time plays when needed most. Psst - He already has 5 sacks!
Gerald Everett: Would love to see him with a fully healthy Herbert and with Keenan drawing some of the defensive attention.
DUDS:
Sony Michel: Though, to be fair, the entire running game has been atrocious. And this is more an indictment on the coaches who keep feeding him.
Chris Rumph: Would love to see him make it onto the stat sheet (and make a difference in a game).
Josh Palmer: Nothing of note in these first four games. Thought he'd take it up a notch, especially now that Keenan is off the field.
Joe Lombardi: I watch KC keep the gas pedal on all game against the Bucs. I watch Joe go 3-and-out for multiple drives a game, usually in the second half. I see KC (and others) moving players around pre-snap, getting creative with their looks and movements. Ours is basically line it up, and run for 0 yards.
