Chandler Jones is not going to be what they think. It was a terrible mistake on their part to get rid of Yannick Ngakoue. He was the reason Maxx Crosby had a breakout season last year and they had excellent chemistry together. I don't think people are talking enough about that. Another huge mistake is one they recently made in trading away cornerback Trayvon Mullen. Yes they finally paired Carr and Adams together for this season but their o-line is absolute garbage. I absolutely think Adams is going to regret moving on from Rodgers. Josh McDaniels is going to do to the Raiders what he did to the Broncos. It's just the way he is wired. You cannot change a narcissist. He's basically a younger Gruden.

This is a great post. All the talk of Jones elevating Crosby’s play overlooks that Ngakoue had already done that last season. Ngakoue has the best take off I have ever seen. It is unreal. Jones is a good but declining player who got 5 of his sacks in one game last season and was invisible a lot of games. If he plays very well, it is a wash to what Ngakoue brought to the Raiders last season. And I think Crosby is going to be frustrated with the Graham defense vs the simple Gus defense that focuses on penetration. Graham is not like that.

Bosa and Mack is a different story. Mack is replacing Nwosu/Fackerall. They were decent but not really great.

I think there was more to it than that - they got some big push against Feiler on the left side too and they stopped our runs to that side.

I was going to mention that as well. Philon was their best interior DL and they let him go too. Although I think Philon wanted out when McDaniels was hired. Their D is going to be a dumpster fire.

Philon had a couple surgeries on his knee. may not be ready

I met a man today who was 98 years old.
unfortunately we met under problematic circumstances
but he appeared relatively lucid and healthy.

This piece is about the Raiders possibly signing Ndamukong Suh. But it also reveals that the Raiders' DTs aren't very good. They can't get pressure up the middle, and the depth behind Crosby and Jones on the edge is thin.

Carr, Adams, Jones, Renfrow, and Crosby all have low cap numbers as they are in year one of new deals. Each of their cap numbers jump by at least ten million in 2023, and Adams jumps by something like $22 million. So those five guys will see their combined cap number go up by more than $70 million in 2023. It’s common to see year one of a deal be a much lower cap number. Guys like JC Jackson have low year one cap hits. That said, it doesn’t look like we frontload our contracts as heavily as other teams. Management did a nice job of having our cap ready for this coming window.
