The only “tweeners” who succeed are the rare superstar freak athlete who are actually elite at multiple roles. aka Sir Derwin James.
I think Wes Welker is a great example of a tweener success story

you are exactly correct - if Hester was a 7th and got cut after his 2nd year (or sooner) when it was clear his ceiling was well below NFL caliber, nobody would have cared. Chargers carried him way past his use-by date because of the ridiculous investment they made to get him.
Another sad example of the "Franklin Syndrome"...

Im not expecting a damn thing from Horvath so if he does anything......its all good. Nabors hardly touched the ball and i dont think Horvath will get much more IF he makes the team. If its a close compitition i think Nabors wins because he is Herberts buddy and Horvath to the PS.

Horvath wasnt a FB in college so not sure if he can even block very well. Maybe he is insurance for injury or if Roundtree isnt improving. IDK, all i know is i dont expect much from him.

          Horvath bigger...
I’d suspect Horvath is heavier now. IIRC, he was asked to gain weight to compete better at FB.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Why isn't Horvath being looked at as a RB?!
            he's obviously athletic enough
            White RB bias??

I think Horvath would be the better choice if we only roster 3 RBs, which seems like a possibility considering LRIII not showing up. But in my mind it’ll come down to Horvath vs Nabors on special teams.

I definitely think we go 5 wrs because Isuspect Ekeler will lean more towards catching balls to preserve his career.
                which means 4 rbs.

I think Horvath will get some run tonight. If he can be our FB1 and RB4 then we can roster 6 WRs (Bandy/Reed).

He wasnt a tweener - he was a good slot receiver able to create quick separation with quick precise cuts. He doubled as a returner, using the same quick cut skills to elude coverage team. What other attribute or skill did he tween towards besides that?

I’m also watching Damon Lloyd to see if he can lock up the last ILB/teams roster spot. So I hope Dallas throws at him. Because I know he can chase and tackle.

                        Hmmm . . . . Methinks it will be;

                        RB's:
                        Eckler
                        Kelley
                        Spillar
Horvath (we will not carry a 'fullback')

                        WR's
                        Allen
                        Williams
                        Palmer
                        Guyton
                        Carter
Bandy / Reed (because - no fullback)

I also think (and hope) that we carry only 2 QB's (Herbert & Stick), but the Oline and running game needs to be better than last year.
