Based on how the Chargers are raving about Palmer in OTA's and where he was drafted pretty sure the plan is to kick him in as the next starter once Allen is past his prime or the opportunity presents its self...

Guyton or Palmer will have to put K. Allen's shoes shortly.

This staff has such better vision about how to capitalize on Mike's strengths.

Mike's a physical monster. Taking advantage of mismatches in coverage is what it's all about with him.

A backup for Derwin? Half of this board wants to trade away the primary Derwin, forget about the backup plan.

Some of those … that sounds like blaming Herbert. which would be wrong. The majority of KA drops were on his hands. Herbert is lucky - lucky that he is The Golden God!

Yep...just think of all those draft picks we can get if we trade away, as some have suggested:
                Derwin
                Slayer
                Mike Will
...and don't forget that potential conditional 7th rounder for Tillery...

Normally, when I hear about a player standing out in OTAs or camp I take it with a grain of salt. But watching Palmer as a rookie you already know he is the real deal, so it's very encouraging to read. I have been predicting he will have a break out season in 2022. Guyton similarly. You could see Guyton really growing last season. He had an outstanding game in Cincy, where he was physical and out-dueled DBs. Receivers whose primary asset is their speed don't generally do that, they are usually smaller guys. But Guyton has pretty good size for a man who has sub 4.4 speed. Guyton just turned 25 about 10 days ago, he came into the league with talent but was raw, he's just now coming into his prime. I keep saying this - the Chargers have the deepest WR corps in the league.

I'm reading posters again here postulate about moving on from Keenan Allen. It sort of makes my eyes roll. Keenan is barely 30 years old and over the past 5 years few WRs has elite numbers - top 5 - in receptions and receiving yardage. Some people seem to think that this type of receiver grows on trees and is easy to replace. Keenan has showed no signs of slowing down. His 1138 yds in 2021 was 13th best in the league, a few yards behind the 12th best - Mike Williams. Keenan is still in his prime. WRs of his mold - who rely on great route running, deceptiveness, and good hands rather than straight speed - are able to play and play at high caliber deep into their 30s. However, all that said, with the depth the Chargers seem to have at WR, if Palmer and Guyton have break out seasons, who knows what will happen.

                    K. Allen is a Chargers for a few more years.
If he leaves, it will be not because of his ability.
It will be because the cap's salary.

Here is an in-depth analysis of Palmer's game.

Touchdown Wire’s Laurie Fitzpatrick dives into Josh Palmer’s All-22 to see why he should be the Chargers’ WR3.

Why stop there, we can get 3 first rounders for Herbert.
