I'm not worried about the O - even rusty they put up 34 points and pounded the living shit out of the fins most of the day. That was satisfying to watch - I wish they'd kept it up to the end.

Defense is our issue, and will be all year long. We all knew that long before the season started. It's going to be a roller coaster of a year . . . . . . . . . . better strap in, although as a professional skeptic I have to admit that even I didn't think we'd be THIS bad on defense, and that $40 mil worth of edge rushers should have at least generated a couple of QB hits . . . . . . .. .
This is a D that supposedly has 4 top 100 players (James, Mack, Bosa and Kendricks). And then one of the bigger FA signings from a couple years ago (JC Jackson). Only one that made a positive impact yesterday was DJ. The rest were all ineffective (Mack and Kendricks) or actually torpedoed the team (Bosa and Jackson).

I was hoping that a fully healthy roster would be AT LEAST a middle-of-the-pack defense. This is a bottom 5 D.

Yet, Staley on big third downs, played prevent hoping to not lose instead of playing to win

They gave up big plays anyway so why not try to force Tua to make a play quickly and not have all day

      Staley is justg overmatched

Jsut the fact he talked to Steve Kerr about how to overcome a loss to the Jags instead of like a real coach who has had failure shows how mentally stupid and just a sports fan boy he is

kerr was the LAST coach to talk about playoff failure
talk to a coach of a team that has actually choked and lost
he is a lot of style with little substance

My first reaction to the hire is that it was a bad one and I think it will show that he is overmatched
Yep talking to Steve Kerr after getting smoked by the Lakers and putting that in the press was not the smartest thing to do. What he should of done is reached out to Steve Kerr's HC IE Phil Jackson who would have told him that being a good HC and team is not about relationships, its about players playing together and establishing a culture where the players are willing to give 100 percent effort for each other, period.

First and foremost this team is going to be about relationship!

This was the first thing Staley proclaimed when he was hired by the Chargers. Ugggg.

Lets be honest about Steve Kerr - he came into the WArriors and went to five straight finals. When they lost - it was more injury driven. They won a 4th title and than ths Lakers. But overall, Kerr hand't dealt with very much adversity

Find a coach who dealt with losing - talk to Spoelstra or somebody who REALLY took one on the chin and how they learned to coach better the second time.

I am done with him because his player evaluations also stink

How about he keep it in the same sport and talk to someone like Jimmy Johnson who lost big with a franchise QB and came back to win back to back superbowls! To go to Steve Kerr after last season was just a weird thing to do.

Excellent point. Or hell, Marv Levy, lost four straight super bowls and kept coming back for more

Hell talk to McVay, Sean Payton -- but not Steve Kerr.

Staley deserves a lot of criticism for a variety of reasons, but talking with a coach on how he dealt with adversity is the least of them.

It just creates the puzzle - just more pieces where he is a failure. A lot of style - no results

MIA, including their brilliant mind head coach, are talking a lot of junk @ G1.

Last year, these same dudes put up spectacular numbers early, just like yesterday.

Then they faded badly, missing the playoffs.

PIT got rolled by SF yesterday, an apt comp for what LAC did.

Finish strong Chargers...everyone needs to play better.

Staley is a used car salesman... He has to push the "relationship" style because otherwise he'll lose the locker room, which I'm convinced he already has. Being your coombaya buddy buddy only goes so far when your losing.

I'm curious to see how Belichick defends their O next week. Tua is so fragile that one hit derails their season.

Let's be real - we humiliated their offense last year with a depleted staff and they have had this redemption game circled on the calendar for a long time.

The Chargers became the first team in postseason history to be plus five in the turnover margin and lose.

Since 2000, teams that rushed for more than 200 yards, allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards, did not turn the ball over and won the turnover margin by at least two were 110-0.
                          Before Sunday.

Staley resume getting better and better after what he served us in last 2 games is there anyone who support this pretender as a HC of bolts?

If there is such brave/insane person please write why.
