You are right that spanos is the biggest problem but:

Marty was ONLY fired because he gave Spanos an ultimatum. Marty wanted to replace our OC and DC with his brother and son. Spanos kept Marty 2 years too late..... should have fired him after playoff loss to the jets...... but Spanos does not like to have to pay off expensive guaranteed contracts as Marty had for doing nothing(5 million per year).....Marty was the worst HC at managing playoff games, because he played super conservative waiting for the opponent to make a mistake..... good teams that you play in playoffs rarely make those mistakes marty needs to win games.... Marty was great at beating BAD teams......

Bosa held out because Spanos refused to pay him his bonus up front like all other top 5 picks got..... his agent used off-set language as a bargaining chip to get Chargers to agree to just give Bosa what the other top 5 picks got......Spanos only wanted to pay half the bonus up front and the rest the next year.....

Spanos is one of those people who has to get players to play for at least a little bit less then they would get somewhere else.....the reason before salary cap, that Chargers had so many holdouts, was because Spanos always wants to win the deal..... he is cheap...... he would hold up a signing over the tiniest of details just to not pay something other owners were paying for.....

I hate that cheap ass Klein sold the team to an even cheaper more disgusting owner...... NFL should not approve a sale unless it goes to someone who really cares about winning football, not just winning money wise.....

Unfortunately we will not be getting rid of our bad owners, and not getting rid of TT......but if we get a great coach who actually knows how to best use talent, we will find out that the Chargers have more talent in some positions than we actually think..... and less in some other positions.....Chargers have not had a great coach since Boss Ross, so lets hope they choose a great one this time.....

Have you watched the Matt Slauson Danny Woodhead video from a couple weeks ago. The did rip Lynn for some bad coaching. But then they started explaining how the front office of Chargers meddles with roster and will tell the HC who should start.
Woodhead say every year McCoy was given less and less say over the team. Slauson said McCoy told him sorry I can't start that guy on o-line my hands are tied. That decision comes from above.

By viewing what most posters have to say regarding what they think is involved in coaching in general, head coach specifically, they would never ask a legitimate question that would solicit an answer that would impart in-depth and pertinent information.

Well, someone needs to quiz them on football basics during the interview. Time management. Situational playcalling. Underperforming groups. The Spanos clan seem to skip over that stuff.

If the majority of said fan(s) would ask well thought out/formed past behavior questions and actually knew what a strong answer was to it, I’d be shocked.

The fix is Spanos sells to Balmer. The you have a chance.
But until then the Spanos will meddle with everything. Boss Ross left because of it. Marty fought about it. Norv, McCoy and Lynn were fired because of it.

And with this dysfunction at the top, why should we expect them to do anything better for Herbert than they did Rivers.

So they could have actually had a better line in front of Rivers says Slauson but was told NO. Because of front office.

The failure is higher up the food chain. Always was. Always will be until they sell the team or finally look in the mirror and step away from all football decisions.

I don't think this is the way to go. That Offense is successful because they have an absolute stud bell cow back. Those don't grow on trees & I'm not sure how sustainable it is in this day & age of football.

Just a question....so don't throw anything. I have been a fan of this team for over 40 years, but am not a San Diegan. I do realize how upsetting it has been for the team to move and that the Spanos family are the ones who did it, so I get the hate. Maybe a little weary of reading it, but I certainly get it.

Where does all the inside information about John Spanos on this board come from, though? Other than him posing in the camera shots during draft time or speaking about a player who was picked, I almost never read about him, hear about him, see him. In fact until I listened to the Slaussen and Woodhead piece I never heard anything about the Spanos's interferring, In fact everything I read or heard over the years was the opposite (I recall reading that Dean let AJ Smith walk all over him and did not get involved in the football side of things enough, ironically). Seems like juicy stuff like the owner's son interfering would be big news and hard to keep quiet.

And as someone who leads an organization, I can tell you that if what Slaussen said about McCoy is true, McCoy needed to be fired immediately. A real leader NEVER says to a subordinate that this is out of my control. That sounds like someone who is weak and doesnt want to man up and tell Slaussen he is out of line or that he disagrees so the best way to get him out of the office is to blame management. If McCoy was being told to play guys he did not want to, that is on him. He needed to man up because he would get fired either way. And if that were true, why would the front office have let Lynn start Tyrod and plan for him to come back and start? Why is Pipkins not playing until all the other FA scrubs are hurt? Why is Ballage playing over Kelly?

Lastly, I think it was Woodhead who said Phil now is seeing what a real organization is like, because he is playing for the Colts. That is where Telesco came from. Telesco knows all about the Colts and I am sure has copied all the good stuff they do.

Most of the John Spanos bashing was prior to the Slaussen video, so have I been missing a lot of stuff or is John just the whipping boy for the Spanoses moving the team?

When the only common factor is the ownership for the last 30ish years, it has to be the root cause.
