He has been overmatched against Clemson and Alabama but he is a very good head coach. Look at the track record. He has won everywhere. This is a talent gap between Notre Dame and Clemson/Alabama

I have said he should go to the NFL because he will never be better than Alabama, Clemson and pick your other SEC team (LSU, Georgia)

Take into consideration that only about 6 guys on Bama’s team could qualify academically at ND.
ND has a mediocre QB and not near enough speed.
ND is well coached...no penalties, boneheaded plays, execution is excellent but just don’t have the athletes to stand up for 60 minutes.

          Thats a good point

He has been on my big board for a month and nothing today changes that. He reminds me of Bobby Ross. Worked his way up the ranks, HC of various teams, various styles.

ND is a premiere university with a very rich football tradition. You can recruit nationally from ND. No excuses

Yes a national recruitment powerhouse, as is Bama.
The difference is academics. The vast majority of Bama players could/would not meet the minimum academic requirements at ND. The academic regimentation differences are that of a ditch digger vs a civil engineer.

The dude ran the ball way too much in a game he was behind the entire time. They don't have the talent Bama does, but Kelly doesn't trust the paint game just like our current coaching staff.

I wouldn't mind giving Dabo Sweeney a call. He said he likes to set the tempo in the trenches for one thing.

Lol, hec no. Most don't graduate. But some places like ND and Stanford have standards for getting in their schools and they are good schools who also happen to have good sports programs.

Herbert stayed home where he wanted to be.

I guess we have to give Harbaugh a big pass as well then. Michigan is a better academic university than ND

I never said pass on Kelly but doubt he leaves ND and I don't have Harbaugh on my list either but if they hired him I'd be ok with it. He has had NFL success. He probably won't take well the Spani's telling him who to play though. So he won't last long with their meddling.
