Interesting because I felt like I was at least "seeing" Reyes involved in more stops in that game.

You were, but aren't those season-long cumulative stats? Or are they just for this past week?

I believe they are season long. It would be incredibly stupid to do for just last week. I can think of superstars that shit the bed.

I guess I have to remember that the horrible pass play allowed versus Jacksonville and the penalty on Flacco by Weddle are just two plays, but they really stick in my mind and make me question how Weddle could be the best FS this year. Well, that and a fake punt on 4th and 5 miles to go, which I guess didn't cost him anything in the scoring because it happened on special teams.

No surprise about Butler or Reyes. I think Butler has played a little bit better since being teamed with Conner in the starting lineup, but his play had nowhere to go but up. I think Reyes' numbers will continue to be bad until he is taken out of the starting lineup and just used as a pass rusher. He continues to be pretty bad against the run for us. My guess is that his splits would show that, but then again, we have questioned PFF's scoring before.

Yes, Butler is worthless. Now ranks as Telesco's worst signing, IMO. Cox was a worse player, but Butler was a re-sign.

Generally speaking, Weddle does not make mental errors. Physical errors are going to happen in every sport in every game by every player. Coaches don't mind those so much. Its the mental, stupid mistakes that piss them off. Weddle has had two IMO (Fake punt and Pushing the QB). 2 bad mental mistakes in how many ST and Defensive chances this season?

He is a cerebral player that is in the right place 99% of the time because he knows the defense and knows the game of football. He has had a total of 6 penalties IN HIS CARRER and he is arguably the best tackler in the NFL.

I have no problem w/Weddle being graded as the top FS in the league this season whether that being statistically or via the think tank approach.

But the bonehead plays have been pretty damn boneheaded. The 4th and 30 was inexcusable, he has to be more aware of the situation, field position, the down and distance (especially for someone who is cerebral) and the push on Flacco wasn't a simple mental lapse, it was a dumb play. It wasn't one of those questionable rouging calls we've become accustomed to, but a needless, weak push after taking a few steps. Doesn't he have another roughing call as well? I have no issues with his play at safety, I agree he's amongst the best in the league, but his judgment at times this season has been very poor.

Not even close. That said, not sure how anyone could have predicted this collapse by Butler. Really don't know what the hell is up with him. Seems mental. Not sure how you go from playing at a probowl type level when Spikes was around to this garbage we are seeing.

The scores are too high for one week.

Reyes and Butler need to be backups.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
