There was a rumor floating around yesterday about the Vikings shopping Cordarrelle Patterson. I don't think that was a legit rumor since no one credible is reporting it but it could be someone like that we don't even expect.

Now that they traded for Walalce they might. Patterson has been reportedly very slow to pick up the offense.

I know this is not a serious post but I'll play along. If you try to trade him, it's going to have to come with a new contract with the new team and there's no way Rivers would do that if he really wants to retire.

I agree, of course. I think Rivers retires a Charger. Either after this season - since that seems to be a hot thought right now - or after his next contract.

Patterson is an interesting guy. The Vikes, IIRC, moved back up into the 1st round to grab him a few drafts back, and every time I watch a Vikings game (granted, maybe 3-4 since he's been drafted), the announcers always mention his athleticism and big-play ability. He was viewed as a bit of a project because I believe he declared early (again, going by my failing memory ) so they expected a bit of a learning curve.

However, it's a bit concerning that the Vikings are - apparently - willing to let him go. Signing Wallace can't be a vote of confidence for him. If he's having problems picking up an offense or is otherwise football IQ challenged, isn't that part of the reason we let Mathews walk (OK, a small part)? I think think the Vikings are richpjr's 2nd-favorite team, so maybe he can weigh in on this. In any case, I wouldn't go any higher than a 4th, based on my minuscule familiarity with the guy.

I dont think hes going anywhere. And i dont think hes retiring. Im just blowing smoke all over this place. Most everyone is sort of in panic over-react mode so im just having fun.
